i need help with my laptop....

    okay got a new laptop for christmas, but that damn thing is setup so that when the power cord isnt plugged in, the screen is darker....and by darker i mean bloody dark....and i cant figure out how to change the settings...i'm running XP....

    its really annoying too, cuz my work laptop does the exact opposite and i cant figure out how to change that one either....

    please help me....

    On mine, which runs vista, I can click on the battery button in the tray and select a power usage plan - Balanced, Power Saver and, High performance. You could try to do that and see if that works.

    Yeah, check under control panel --> power settings, or there may be a setting in the BIOS.

    yeah, neither of those work...i would probably have to call dell, but god i just dont wanna spend 3 hours on hold....i'll ask my tech guy after the break is over i guess...

    i have to agree with MMM check in the control pannel under power management, my laptop has Vista so i can't tell u exactlywhere it is but check there.

    Open the 'Control Panel'
    Go to 'Power Option'

    You should see something along the lines of 'Dell Recommends' with a 'Change Plan Setiings' or 'Edit Plan Settings' somewhere connected to the 'Dell Recommends'
    Under that you should have a option for adjusting the display brightness when the power cord is removed.

    It's in the BIOS for sure.

    Yes, if its a Dell laptop, its in the BIOS. It's not in the power options control panel.

    You can also hold down the function (Fn) key and use the arrow keys to change the brightness settings.
