So my manager flew me out to LA last week to meet clients, do some demo work, etc and the week before I had called Pat Fraley (better known to guys like us as Barbeque in GIJOE and Krang in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and Kyle Hebert (Gohan in Dragonball Z and Ryu in Street Fighter) to see if I could meet up with them while I was in town. Pat and Kyle graciously agreed to have lunch with me. Pat set the time and place for lunch at Studio City Cafe in LA. So I got to sit with these guys for an hour and a half and talk shop and hear some great stories about people we know and love like Peter Cullen and Jim Cummings. Pat even picked up the tab!!! So ANYWAYS, Vanessa Hudgens from High School Musical sits at the table next to ours, so I got to meet her. THEN it gets AWESOME. I go out in the parking lot to wait for my producer to pick me up, and I hear a familiar voice in the parking lot! I look over and Phil LaMarr is standing right there! So I went to introduce myself and say "Hi!" I hear this familiar laugh in the car next to him and look down and there is "a big, STRONG man" himself, Mr. Kevin Michael Richardson! So they both had pictures taken with me and did a little video for my YouTube channel. We talked about VO for a bit. It was absolutely a thrill and really awesome surprise! Phil is not only Jazz in Transformers: Animated, he's also the voice of the Green Lantern in Justice League! Kevin Michael Richardson was Omega Supreme in Transformers: Animated as well as one of the Prime's that gave Sam the Matrix in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen!

 

Very awesome, did you get them to sign your Almanac?

Wednesday at lunch was definitely the highlight of my entire trip! lol.

and they are really nice guys too! so cool! most awesomeness ever.

the other two in the picture are kyle hebert who voiced gohan in Dragonball Z and Ryu in Streetfighter (bald guy with the gotee that's NOT me, although we look like we could be brothers... he's on the left of the photo) and pat fraley who voiced Krang in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Wildcat in Talespin... he used to do the celebrities' voices in Scooby-Doo, lol.

i'll do my best to make you guys proud! oh, i also met the guys i worked with at hasbro on clone wars! they were calling me "Captain Rex" lol! he told me that he had just taken the final specs and what i had done to George Lucas two days prior and said (and i quote) "George Lucas absolutely loved you!"   that made me so happy... such a great compliment coming from someone like Lucas!

i'm no "big shot" but i will still be me even if i make it huge! no worries there!

well, i did see Bruce Campbell (who's also done some voice acting as well as starring in Evil Dead and Army of Darkness) and Yuri Lowenthal (Ben 10). i'll attach some pics of some of the other people i met.

 

OH, and I got this awesome message on my phone from an EXTREMELY awesome guy that you all know from a BUNCH of cartoons!

i can only hope! it's funny how much MORE they were interested in what I do rather than how interested I was in what THEY do! apparently, trailer/promo/commercial work is more consistent than animation? anyways, it was indeed an honor.

 

Man, I'm jealous. Kevin Michael Richardson is one of my favorite voice actors.

 

Jon, your so lucky. Phil Lamarr and Kevin Micheal Richardson are two of the best voice actors ever. It's also cool you saw Venesa Hudgens (hate HSM), Yuri Lowenthal, Kyle Hebert, Pat Fralay and even Jerry Springer.   It's how you met Jerry Springer.
