For your next one, I'm totally envisioning a Megatron that transforms into a tank, albeit with no arm-mounted fusion canon.

That's not a bad idea at all, I'll have to remember that. I have a bunch of ideas for what to do next, I've already got a commission request for a soundwave and I want to see how realistic I could make a beast wars character.

I just had a thought, so I dug softimus out to check something.

I made them in scale, completely by accident.

    Dude!!! This is awesome!!! :)
I really question why Hasbro never continued their Softimus line; they were so awesome.
But you have filled this great void, good sir!!

I'm not confirming or denying anything, but just a question for everybody before I stop bumping this thread.

Do you think Soundwave needs his shoulder gun to be recognizable? I kind of want to avoid giving any of them visible weapons.

Soundwave is pretty recognizable, especially if you're going to somehow give him his chest, buttons, etc so you can definetly get away with not having the shoulder cannon.

But if you could figure out how to put it on anyways, it'd make it better.

I agree, he's already recognizable by his colours, chest, & face.
The shoulder gun is just extra, although you code purpose it as a battery, since they fit in the battery compartment in the G1 toy.

He definitely doesn't /need/ the shoulder cannon to be recognized as Soundwave. It's just an extra. The main things that identify him are color, chest, head, alt mode. And those are the basics.

Awesome work! I don't think Soundwave needs the gun.

i wouldn't say it's necessary, but it'll be cool if (going cassette recorder) if the gun was buttoned on and could be used as a handle in alt mode. might be too much, though...

Oh, I can make the gun no problem. I was originally going to give Starscream his null rays too, but I ended up changing my mind halfway through.

It just goes back to that idea in my head of these being part of a line specifically for babies. I don't want these imaginary kids to learn about weapons just yet.

The fact that it makes them a whole lot easier to design and make is only 40% of it, tops
