I like to think of this as the final form of one of my earliest customs: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/874739-custom-dinobots-wip.html

That particular Grimlock never really panned out so I salvaged some parts and tried to make a more accurate T-Rex mode with a better head and digitigrade legs: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radic...c-grimlock-actually-looks-like-t-rex-wip.html

But now he's all painted up and I am super happy with him.

Also, the wings are from the Iron Factory upgrade: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=IF10000&mode=retail

And the head is also third party, but I can't remember the name. It's a very nice sculpt, but mine doesn't really want to stay on super great.

One of the best FoC Grimlock's I've seen too. Love the mods. Bot wings look great and have a great purpose for alt mode. Dino-knee pads and the new head are much better too. If you could do something about that scrawny T-rex neck it'd be perfect.

Wow, that is awesome. Great paint and great bot mode, but I am especially liking that Dino mode. So, so much better than the stock look.

Interesting T-Rex head choice. It definitely fills a gap between the G1 to FOC to AoE style progression in that respect. The only thing that bugs me is the color choice of Gold and Yellow. Doesn't really flow well for seem reason. Other than that I like what you did. Shoot,I haven't even painted my FOC Grimlock yet! Lol!

This is a rare case where adding backpack kibble actually IMPROVES the figure. Awesome job, it looks fantastic!

The dino tongue looks... odd. I think it's too Oscar Meyer for the mold.
    Everything else? Simply stunning!

    Awesome.

I like the head you chose for his beast mode, this came out nicely.

That's incredible! I love how you make the T-rex mode come to life with the head sculpt, very organic, but still very "metal". Great job!

i have been coming back so often to look at this custom. it is amazing what you have done to really make this look like a dino!

this has been really sparking ideas to 3d model some upgrade parts inspired by your kit. even thinking of a new head. similar to the regular FOC one but bigger or at least more wide.

    keep up the good work!

    Yay! Creative Spotlight!

Yeah, at this point the small-ish neck is the only thing I'm not quite happy about. I'm just not sure how to fill it out while keeping it poseable.

    Thank you.

Honestly, those pieces are just yellow because that's what they were already painted from the first grimlock custom. I just really didn't feel like stripping them or painting over the already thick paint.

    Thank you.

That's actually supposed to be his flamethrower, at some point I plan to make a flame effect that can plug into the hole in the end.

    Thank you.

Thank you. I think that Megatron head is one of the best dino sculpts they've done.

    Haha yes!

Ah, that's right. I love the sculpt, but it now won't stay on at all unfortunately. I'm back to the original head.

    Thank you.

    Thank you.

Thank you. And that would be awesome. The head really works in game, the translation to the toy just made it look sad and bucktoothed.

Wow! That add on is great, and I'm really surprised how well Beast Megs' Rex head works. Nice work.

Really cool man. I'm not a fan of the new dino head personally. I also prefer his game head but that's just personal preference. But that paint work is fantastic and the mod to his arms made me go back and look harder at them. Really great work here. :)

Those Dino Knees/ Robo Elbows are from Lazorback, right? How hard was adding them?

He has the King kickbutt head already, but yeah someday I maybe golden-up the yellow parts.

Pretty easy. I just trimmed the areas around the shoulder ball joints until they can slot in to Grimlocks shoulder pieces.
