I can't seem to find a straight answer on this. Does soundwave talk in a synthesized voice or does he talk with the scratchy megatron voice from the animated series? I'm getting mixed reports, and I don't get why they would give him the Megatron voice. To me, the shining moment would be hearing him talk as he always did. For anyone who saw the game trailer, Soundwave announces "Autobot Precense detected..etc." in his traditional voice, and it sounds awesome. So I will def. be let down if I hear Welker's Megatron voice.
***SPOILER**** From what I have read it is Frank Welker but it is his G1 Megatron voice, not the traditional vocodered Soundwave
thats what i've heard, but i want an official confirmation from someone who has seen it...man it's gonna hurt to hear the truth..I just know it.
Everyone whose seen it so far has said it's the unaltered Soundwave voice. So basically, Welker uses his Dr. Claw voice.
At least they are giving Mr. Welker some work. I do a mean Dr.Claw myself, I guess it was just that voice through a vocoder. We can do a fan dub
Its just dumb why kill a good thing ya know lowers my expectation of actually seeing and hearing my fave G1 character not taht megatrons g1 voice isnt awsome just UGHHH lol
Well alot of folks were a little suspect of Hugo Weaving's Megatron and that turned out alright after we got to hear it in the trailers so I wouldn't say it's a bad thing till it is heard. Possibly in a trailer.
haha exactly, I can see them popping up on youtube in the future. As for this character, basically he's not even soundwave then? Just a satellite decepticon... Yeh so he has communications experience like soundwave, but that's it. (i know you could argue the same facts about Ironhide, Ratchet, etc.)
Its the same voice, just that he doesnt talk in that "synthesized" monotone way he did in G1... Sounds awesome, anyway. I guess the synthesized type worked in the cartoon well, but for the movie...well, theyre incredibly sophisticated mechanical organisms...why the heck would they talk like a robot straight out of a 50's movie? Its logical and understandable.
He talks in Dr. Claw's voice, not G1 Megatron's. It may have been a nice voice for Inspector Gadget, but in this film, it was nothing but a generic growly bad guy voice that did not set him apart from Megatron or the Fallen. Disappointing.
He has the same voice he had in the cartoon, except that it is not filtered by vocoder. So basically, Frank Welker did the exact same voice he did all these years ago.
I don't know why so many people complain about the non-vocoded voice. Personally, I thought it was awesome because Dr. Claw was one of my favorite villains growing up. I wouldn't mind hearing the vocoder voice in TF3 though. I had an idea for it too; if he has his mouthplate and classic visor, maybe he'll have the vocoded voice while talking with the plate covering his mouth. Stupid idea, I know, but it could work.
His dR. Claw voice is perfect to me! Bay's Soundwave definately fits the g1 character. Maybe when he is in battle-mode (soon to be seen in Tf3) his face plate and visor changes his voice to the G1 voice-coder fassion while retaining the Dr. Claw voice, and when not in battle mode his Dr.Claw voice is heard perfectly. Thats' my theory/speculation.
That was posted just above you, 9 minutes before you. Anyways, yeah I like the idea of his faceplate giving him his vocoded voice, but I've no issue with the Dr. Claw voice.
When I first heard Soundwave's movie voice, I couldn't help but think he was going to say..... "I'll get you next time Prime....next time." Maybe Bay will put it in the end of Tf3? I wouldn't put it past Bay.
Did Soundwave say that in the cartoon or something? I dunno, it doesn't sound like somethiing Soundwave should say. Prime's not his nemesis, after all ... Oh, you're referring to Dr. Claw and Gadget. Heh.
Basically Soundwaves voice is Dr. Claw with the vocoder synthesizing over top of it. Frank Welker did both voices by the way.
