It's about 5 degrees here in Toronto right now. I feel for you guys out in the Prairies; isn't this the second straight day of -40 degree weather? I remember watching Breakfast Television: Edmonton yesterday and viewers were sending pictures or stories of how they were coping with the cold. One family said they were scraping the ice off their windows indoors and another were eating breakfast in toques and gloves!

Call in sick and stock up on some coffee/hot chocolate!

We've only got another two days of the -30/-40 weather. My poor car barely started yesterday. I'm scared for when I leave work tonight. Should I call CAA now to get in line for 8 pm?

It's +1C here in HRM. And it's gonna be that for the next few days. Probably be +10 on Saturday. If the long range forcast holds. Wet winters suck.

Damn I thought I was pissed with it being 16 degrees here.... I feel for ya man.

I was looking for ice melting salt the other day and i guess all over the country (US) there's a shortage and everyone is looking for ice melting salt..

global warming my ass. Notice they only talk about it in the dead of the summer when its 100 outside...

Right now it's currently 18 F, but it feels like 2 F thanks to the wind which is gusting close to 40mph.

My car's barely been kicking over in the morning and it's only a couple years old. I wonder if they've got the power working in the plugins outside my apartment.

(Speaking of that, is there any truth to the story that someone from the more southern US thought Canadians had electric cars because they're all plugged in in the winter?)

    ^lol, that would be funny.

I hate the cold, but I got to say that the 1990 honda Civic is holding up like a trooper, still started first time this morning (no Garage, no plug in) Too bad it never really 'warms up' though.

I think the worst part is that the pipes in my house froze yesterday... they thawned and everything is working again, but I hope there is no real damage...

25 degrees right now. It's not exactly sunny out but it is bright.

it's amazing cold here in edmonton.... i'm scraping the inside of my windows in the car. Yesterday my car got stuck in the parking lot at work and it took 3 guys to push it out. As the title of this thread says..... i hate winter.

It's snowing here, and it's about 27 degrees. Driving is a lot worse than usual. :(

Right now we are at a balmy -7F (-22C) and the wind chill is a really awesome -33F (-36c), and it's supposed to get down to -15F tonight. The windchills are supposed to remain about the same. Yesterday it was 40F. That is a big swing. Thank goodness for the engine block heater. I doubt my car would start without it.

I forgot to plug in the "electric" car Sunday night, so yesterday was an adventure in car starting (mine started, the wife's did not).

I actually took my son's lamp outside to check the outlets yesterday. Today... no problems with the start-up! However, no plug-ins at work.

If you are able to take a short break from work, go outside and start up the car for a bit. If you do that you should be able to start it when it counts.
