I snaged me a fixer upper '85 Jaguar XJR for only $1,200!!! Sure i'm broke beyond all belief after this, but I've been wanting a Jag for ages. Not a bad find...just no TF's for a while...sigh.
a few minor dents on the front right fender, near the headlights. Back seat leather is to9rn up a bit, that'll be costly i'm sure, but nothing huge. A ffew other blemishes, and there are some electrical and strut problems, but I know a guy in town that can fix that for cheap (my gramps worked for him in his shop for several years). Only thing that bugs me is that someone jacked the Jaguar from the hood back in the day, and that's not a cheap piece to get
I absolutely LOVE that car!!!! you've gotta post pics, or at least PM them to me. good thing you can get the car fixed on the cheap, because that's what's always scared me away from getting one. 12 cylinder, right?
I may be wrong about the model designation, but wasn't the xjr the supercar from the 90's? it was the xjs that I was thinking of that had the v12-a coupe with a huge hood and a small back end. are you sure you got an xjr?
Get a KO, spraypaint it silver, Voila! Instant replacement. KO ravages are like 5 bucks shipped from overseas.
actually, the super car was the XJ220. an XJ6 is what I had, great car and carries the pride of the United Kingdom with it. Gawd Bless 'em!
it's all paid for now and in my drive way! Now it's time to start the long process of fixing it up, checking it over and ordering/buying parts. Here are some pics of me and my new baby:
If you are struggling to find any small parts, let me know. I'm pretty sure I can source some parts a lot easier (i.e. from the rusting shitbucket in my friend's garden) than you can in the states. Only issue is that the dash, gearbox, shift and electrics will be mostly different, owing to US spec. Interior styling my differ also.... but badges and hood jags my be sortable...
