Who else is getting the business from this turducken of a storm?

I just sold my house and it's just so apropo that we're to be closing at the end of the month on this house with this hurricane blowing in. Back in 83 when we arrived in the Hampton Roads area we arrived a few days ahead of a hurricane. So, it's kinda like bookends our time spent in the Mid-Atlantic region. :lol

Sooooooo, we're scheduled to leave for New England where this monster is tentatively scheduled to hit Monday. Yeah, all I can do right now is pray this thing passes by and doesn't flood and rip up the region too bad. My heart is going to our TFW Members in the NY tri-state area and New England cause they're calling for this to be pretty bad. It's not the same storm but it's kinda reminding me of the Long Island Express.

    check that out here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1938_New_England_hurricane

Best of luck to anyone riding this thing out,I think we're going to need it. More importantly, stay safe! Hope to hear from you guys soon!

i am in eastern Pa. Luckily we moved from our old house that had a huge tree limb over our roof- and over the snake room. last one- we had to move 40 snakes and whatever racks we could move into the kitchen, an d a rodent colony of 500 in the living room- ( from the third floor, in narrow hallways) we feared the limb would have come crashing down!

Now, my only concern is if we loose power. last hurricaine, people that lost power, lost it for over a week. If we loose power for more then a day, and it gets cold- my neighbors wont be happy about the generater running ( its an old one, but a good one, its just load) b/c i will have to run it to run a space heater so my snakes dont get sick. Second concern is the second freezer where i have about 1k in frozen rats. I can always pour ice on them, or divvy them out to family members ( hoping they wont mind rats next to their food)

But i am prepared- got hand warmers to use outside the snakes cages for iniital power lossd, didnt feed the snakes ( if we loose power, and temps dont stay warm enough for digestion, they will regurg- which brings on a whole set of problems), and we are picking up one last thing we need for the generator. Will prolly pick up a gas can too. And i am thinking of what to say to neighbors when they complain ( who dont knwo i got snakes- landlord does tho) If only my snakes knew ho wmuch I worried about them!

good luck, the day is monday for us too.

Good-ish news, Sandy is now a tropical storm.

It's going to hit my little island here.

But, I think it's said to get worse when it hits that cold front up here.

I gotta tell you, whilst I'm preparing for the worst, something tells me the worse I'm going to deal with is a lot of water and maybe a day or two of power outages.

    We'll see though.

I honestly hope central Ohio doesn't get rocked too bad by this storm. We're supposed to get a cold front coming in, and combining that with Sandy...we might get either snow or ice. Another ice storm like the one we had back in late January/early February 2011 would really suck.

You know, considering we're on the Eve of Deathstorm 2012, apparently, it is a BEAUTIFUL day outside.

Just got back from walking my dogs. Fairly warm, not a single cloud in the sky, sun shining bright. I just can't see Poseidon barraging the city in the next 24 hrs.

I just spent all morning preparing for the storm. I hope the power doesn't go out for too long and that my efforts to stop the basement from flooding are successful.

Gonna go out and get supplies later. Hopefully it'll just miss us like Irene last year. Never lost power but the roof had a little water damage and the front door leaked.

Yeah, I hope it's not bad either. I am literally less then a block off of the water on the Jersey Shore. At this point were leaving the house and going like 10 miles in. I may board up my windows tomorrow to be safe.

I already know I will lose power. Last time, we lost power for 6 days. So if this has those sustained winds and the rain, then were fucked.

Nope. Not sure if we really need them boarded up. I don't recall seeing any houses in the DC area boarded up.

I'd rather live in a hurricane prone area than Arizona. ;)

    lol Touche.

Arizona, though having the best weather in the country has a rough economy.

still, at least there is no natural disasters here (unless a Haboob is considered a natural disaster lol)

We already finished food shopping, got two giant cases of drinking water bottles, will fill up a few buckets tonight, and I just finished cleaning out the gutters and putting on gutter guards.
