I've got some friends in NC. I just found out that both are OK. One (in southern NC) got very lucky and flood waters stopped just short of her house. Other houses on her block weren't so lucky. The other one (north NC) is OK also. I hope that everything works out for the board members affected by this storm. Probably the only good thing is that Irene wasn't stronger when it made landfall, or that it didn't stall out over land.
In my town in CT we got a lot of down trees, I still have no power and the trees are still on the power lines. My cars are ok and my yard is a mess. I have a little water in my basement but nothing that a de humidifier won't take care of when I get power. My Telco site I take care of all made it threw good with only 2 out of 5 running on generator. The storm could have been worse.
My parents put the generator back on! Woo 1 hour of internet. Hi everyone! You all suck for having electric. I'm actually having fun cooking by fire and taking cold showers. Camping out with toilets!
My two-eye propane burner came in so handy when we were out of power. It's just lovely to wake up to eggs, grits and bacon.
^Which is where? Well I've been through 3 legit hurricanes since Juan in 2003. Where I was without power for 4 days. I smelled pretty bad by day 4, being on a well and all. This one for my area was nothing. It missed Nova Scotia near completely. All we got was wind and some rain. And 3 hours (added up) with out power through the night. But I can never sleep in wind storms. The building my apartment is in vibrates in hurricane force winds. I did take precautions though. MP Megatron and Prime are face down on their shelf. And my dad and I collected up all of my moms plants.
Man, I'm so sorry to hear what happened, I thought that since it had turn into a tropical storm it wouldn't have affected CT as much, but I guess I was wrong Hope most of them would just dry out, but yeah, most likely the box would all be ruined
Lucky you have a generator at all, I am going to be lucky to have power back by Friday and I have well water so I have no water at all, but I do have plenty of charcoal for my BBQ grill so I am grilling and with the sunny weather it could be worse. Fairfield County CT got hit hard with wind and down threes.
12 feet? Holy fuck. Very sorry for what you lost dude man that sucks. We lost power for a few hours on Sunday when the hurricane hit RI, just rained and some wind that was it. We lost it around 9:00 and it came on about 2:00. I woke up just when it came back on because I couldn't sleep that night. Lucky me I guess lol Oddly enough I have power but people living a couple streets away from me still don't and it's been 3 days now.
Okay, so I just got back from vacation and it looks like nothing happened. Seriously, malls were jammed with cars, everyone has power and all the roads are dry.
In Robbinsville NJ, they still don't have power, and won't till friday. Thats where a bunch of friends of mine live, and the gym where I work is located there. Other then that Mercer county seems to be ok
We just got our power back tonight in the Sandy Hook Highlands Area. For such a whimp ass storm it caused a crap load of trouble. I uploaded some pics to share of what i seen in my little town.
I got a company coming in on monday. It's $3,000 for me to get a sump pump and a drain system in my basement. The company that is doing the work seems to be the best in the business.
