Even if it gets downgraded to a tropical storm, it will be nasty. I hate hurricane lead-up days. They're the absolute worst.
Awesome I have a party to go to on Saturday at a fancy restaurant that's literally built right on the water. The waves are gonna be crazy! Of course though I wish everybody good luck and hope they stay safe.
My sister's work is sending her on a business trip to Maryland, about 30 minutes from DC, just in time for the hurricane.
The people up in the Northeast always believe hurricanes only affects the coastal Southern states. They also believe they are immune to hurricanes. Irene could be a repeat of the 1938 hurricane or "The Long Island Express" for which it was also named.
The upper east coast is expected to get storm surges. That can be bad. Storm surges pretty much wiped out Biloxi, MS during Katrina.
I live in northern maryland.....this hurricane is expected to do some major damage to the mid-atlantic.
I live in the immediate DC Metropolitan area.. Arlington to be exact, but as far as what the current updates are, places like Ocean City across the Bay Bridge area are expected to get the more heavy stuff. This reminds me of Hurricane Isabel.. anyone remember that one?
That one was nasty. I remember distinctly one house that was divided into two by a felled tree here in VA. Hurricanes, even when downgraded to tropical storms, are no joke. They're not like nor'easters or bad windy storms.
I think I am screwed. I am literally a block off the beach in Jersey. Furtunately it is on the Bay end, so maybe I won't be hit as hard. The thing that sucks is that some termites got into a tree in front of my house like a month or so ago. So I keep thinking that freaking tree is going to come down. This hurricane is really pissing me off. I have so much shit to do between today and Saturday to get the house ready for it, it's annoying. Just so people prepare themselves, here are some things you may not be prepared for: - Take in your BBQ grills and secure your propane tanks - Get rid of all your potted plants I am taking in my whole patio set. Anyone doing their windows?
