Maybe so, but when I walk into a theater, I expect entertainment, not some psychophysical BS spoon fed to me. There´s books for that. I just want epic battles and armies clashing.

Never mind that anything in the movies is fictional and any race capable of space travel in RL could simply lob big rocks at us and we would be none the wiser.

Yeah but we're talking about how humans are so good at fighting, this has nothing to do with the economic crisis.

oh c'mon, that's just your definition of cinema entertainment then...and imo..it's a pretty narrow one.

oh please. Thanks to Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep, we got the phenomenal Blade Runner, etc etc etc.

Well, then have Bay create a movie which makes us WISER (or at least, tries to ). But no, we get forcibly Sam's David vs Goliath HERO moments, Military adoration without end .....and fart jokes. It kind of contrasts the subtleties of the intricate realistic visuals in a really blunt manner.

No ? Progress of civilization has always been driven by war ...and all current human technology, both civilian & military are showing vast evidence of stagnation. A glass ceiling so to speak.

Maybe it is, but I can live with it. Like I said, I have a firm grasp of reality, and I want my sci-fi (which is not real) with humans kicking ass.

Never heard of that first movies and I have no interest in the second. Like I said. If it has some epic battle with action, I´will watch it, if not, meh. And I have no problems with military PORN. I love everything military when it comes to hardware and every exposition of it. Wich is the reason why the humans harming transformers doens´t bother me as much, I´m firmly aware of the power of real life weaponry.

Also I disagree with you "stagnation" comments. There´s plenty of interesting military technology coming up. BAE systems is working on active camo for tanks, new types of smart ammunition, UCAVs being developed around the world, new generation of stealth fighters, and probably tons of secret projects we have no idea off. There´s no evidence of said stagnation.

Don't get me wrong, I love military stuff a lot too...but there is a place and a time for everything. Boasting it all the time as WIN, is not my idea of creating rich cinema.

...and you really ought to give Blade Runner a shot....

Or take Macross for example...it shows mankind adopts alien tech most succesfully with some of the best action scenes imo, but it also shows how vulnerable we really are.
