Ive just recently picked up HA bumblebee and jazz and i LOVE them!!

I have them displayed with ROTF leader prime and DOTM leader ironhide and it looks brilliant (just need a leader ratchet and it would look epic - but thats a different matter)

So now i have my sights on HA sideswipe but after looking at online reviews and pics im really put off by the size of the backpack.

    is it a decent figure?
can you fold the backpack up any differently to compact it any?
    whats you thoughts?

Can't really compact it any more than you've seen without modding it...

Sideswipe is the weakest HA figure. I'd pass if I were in your position.

The car mode is brilliant. The robot mode.. takes time to like.
He wears the car on his back to a shocking degree and his leg poseability is as hindered as his other ROTF molds by the design.
However.. viewed from the front in a decent pose (it can be done!) he does look decent, with a cracking paint job and awesome headsculpt. The extra weaponry that pops up over his shoulders isn't bad either, nor does it look tagged on to be used by the godawful Epps figure that went straight into the bin without being removed from the packaging.
If you can get it cheap, it's worth a punt.

This. Sideswipe gets such a bad rap and for good reason. But it's all in the perspective. If you're actually playing with him (pwew pwew pwew! :lol ) then he sucks big time. But if he's just being displayed, then he's actually quite good looking, IMO.

I have an extra one (mint and 100% complete) if you're interested.

Have you looked at the feedback thread for the figure? That likely answers any questions you might have about him.

it has a back pack,i modded mine to evade this and it looks better that way but he is still one of the weeker designs.

you could always hold out to see if we get a revamp on him in DOTM form but its kind of a long shot

I recently bought the DOTM HA Sideswipe for the lulz. The box shows him holding the HA snow mobile weapon he comes with, under it it has a sticker that says "figure can't hold weapon".

Yeah, Sideswipe is not much of a good robot by modern standards and is an easy pass unless you get it cheap.

Great car mode, but mods are required for the robot mode to be any good.

I actually just picked up one for $5 at my local Walmart last night, and I played around with him when I got home. His backpack does kind of suck, but the rest of him is alright. His car mode is beautiful. And the headsculpt is very nice. In my opinion, he's actually better than HA Bumblebee by a long shot.

He's my second favorite to Jazz in the line. I love him. I loved him before I did the mod, but that only made him better.

But as you can see those of us who think he's fantastic are in the minority. It's all about how you pose the arms.

I bought it for 7 bucks at marshals and was still dissapointed. Not highly recommended. Vehicle mode is really nice though.

Here you go, the proper feedback thread. It has multiple pictures, opinions, mods, and fan-forming you can do to make the figure look better.

People often get confused about the feedback forum and toy discussion. It's understandable, but maybe there could be more warnings about feedback being for particular toys, and the search option there.

Yeah, when looking for feedback on a toy, the feedback section is just not somewhere I would look. It's all so confusing the way it is hidden and mis-labeled.

What I meant is that new people see "toy discussion" and jump in to ask about a particular toy. That's why I said the error is understandable.

Well there's obviously this, but sadly no one seems to ever read the rules.

Yes, it is quite sad. That thread is in this very sub-forum, right at the top. It's hard to miss.

If you mod the backpack, it's decent. Second weakest HA figure behind Leadfoot.
