It looks as if the portion photoed here is what's required to make this modification.

If anyone has anything to add to this (information and/or photos), please feel free to do so.

(NOTE: I removed the pin that connects the dash and the undercarriage rod simply for clarity of viewing things. Removing the pin is NOT a required step to this modification. This was simply done to illustrate just exactly what's going on with everything and each part.)

After transforming Sideswipe where you can get "under the hood" (simply getting the robot parts out from under the hood area), if the figure is turned over where the bottom is facing up, this view can be visible:

    This:

For the rocker panels to transform differently, this has to be done:

    . . . . and the result:

the transformation is a little different also i messed with it a few minutes ago with mine but didnt do any cutting yet

looking forward to doing this later today i love this mold but this will help it tremendously

just got finished but i didnt cut on the part still attatched to the rear bumper

really straight forward and simple just takes a little bit to get the transformation right but on mine i swung the doors closer to his shoulders

great mod took all of 5 minutes

did it, it was easy peasy :)  Looks great, a bit more squeezing and bending of plastic to get it all pushed together than I'd like....Still can't figure out how he got the doors to fit inside the front wings and go upward like that....

You may also need to shave a bit off the inside of the screw..eeerr.... sheaths and the triangular....err... corner fill in bits on the main bar, so that it folds in flush... It makes more sense in hand

Feel free to post any discussion about your experiences modding this. :)

I've done it!. It made him stand more stable. Its a bit fiddly trying to squeeze the kibble in, and I do hope there's a way to lock the angled chest but it made my HA SS worthy of my HA Lineup.

You really have to shave off the tab like on the Chinese guy's post so that you can push the backpack far enough into Sideswipe's back.

    Cool mod.
I will be doing this to mine hopefully soon.

What part was cut on the rear bumper? i looked at the pics, but i cant tell what he did.

Also, why did he cut the seat?

Neither of those parts are needed to be touched to perform this modification.

I'm going to try to finish up my photos tonight, but I'm hoping to have this resourced tomorrow. :)

If anyone has done this and would like to contribute anything, please feel free to do so.

I hope everything I'm adding makes it clear :)

Nice mod. I just snipped the whole damn back assembly off.

Yours looks better with the door-wings.

Sorry for my own delay. Really, the only thing I have left to do is shoot a couple of comparison shots of my before mod and after. Aside from that, I've done as much as I can. Let me know what you think of everything.

To get it EXACTLY like mine, you need to do two things:

File down this part until it looks like as shown. Note there are a couple of tabs on the sides of the arm that need to go too. Basically the support arm needs to be able to nestle in between those two screw posts.

Then file down these tabs, which prevent these arms from being able to rotate 360 degrees until... well, they DO rotate 360 degrees.

    And that's it.

Here's a few pics of mine with the mod done

It's DEAD EASY to do. I did it with tools no more sophisticated than a nail clipper and a nail file. (Though I strongly recommend you not be a kludger like me)

How you transform him varies a bit. In these pics I've got parts overlapped, but that can risk paint scraping if you do it a lot, and you don't HAVE to do it. His backpack can collapse quite nicely and securely without going quite that far.

Yeah, I'd definitely agree that the overlapping runs a heavy risk of paint scrapping. I still have plans to have some photos of the transformation with the doors tucked in and some comparison shots with an unmodded Sideswipe, but I just hadn't gotten to it yet. Sorry, guys *hides face*

Is anyone having problems with this mod? Can't get the back pack to hold in place, it just keeps slipping off. Is there anything I should be doing?

I don't think so. My experience is that the modification simply allows for more room for the back portions to fold into Sideswipe.
