I enjoyed his work. I also liked him in V for vendetta. I just wish we got more of Megatron in the movies...

I've never particularly liked him as Megatron. It's pretty well-known that he didn't particularly like or understand the role, and that he did all of his lines long-distance. To me it's obvious. His Megatron is pretty much just a snarling monster, without much nuance or personality to his delivery. It feels like he just thought "Uhh, I guess a giant bad guy robot would growl a lot and talk in a scary voice...I'll do that."

Frank Welker, while probably being a worse actor, feels like he's giving his all to the role. You can hear his commitment and love for the character in his delivery. I think I would have enjoyed Weaving's take more if he had actually come into the studio to record lines, and had taken time to understand the role.

    He was okay.

Frank Welker was definitely more into the role since he knows Megatron back and forth.

I prefer Welker by far. He's more passionate, he breathes more life into Megatron, and he's not too good for the role.

I thought Hugo did an OK job..... Until I read about how he felt about the character / movies.

I thought he was great, especially in ROTF and DOTM.

Same here - one of my favorite scenes with Weaving!Megatron was in the warehouse before the forest fight, when he's got Sam pinned and Scalpel is about to cut him open. The calm, cool menace in his voice brings to mind Agent Smith rather than the snarling berserker of the previous movie.

Exactly, that's how I imagine Megatron.Cool but menacing.Of course he's a brutal character but that doesn't overpower his intellect and his voice should reflect that like Hugo's or other more smooth voices he had...some people have the idea that Megatron is dumber for some reason...not saying around here but there are some...

I liked him as Megatron even if it was just a paycheck for him.

But I also agree that Welker is a lot more passionate for the role.

I liked him in ROTF and DOTM. Gave Megatron a certain class, civility, amongst his warmongering. In 07, he was just a snarly mess, although I do love the way he delivered the line "Oh, so unwise."

He was great as Megatron. But if there is a next time I'd prefer Hugh Keays-Byrne over Frank Welker. The actor who played Immortal Joe in mad max.

He did a good job even if he didn't like the role. I like Welker's Megatron more, but Weaving didn't do bad. My favorite Megatron voice is the one from the Animated, though.

I loved Hugo Weaving as Megatron. I know he admitted to phoning it in, but that never came across to me in the movies - I always thought he did solid work. Of course, ROTF gave him the most to work with.

Now, I will say that I will take Hugo Weaving over G1 Frank Welker any day, but Prime / TLK Frank Welker is the GOAT. Now that's a terrific performance.
