So, I've been on a Transformers kick lately (obviously because of the new movie) and I of course watched the original three and I gotta say, I really love Hugo Weaving as Megatron.

I know the role isn't a big deal to him, and it does seem like an odd casting choice, but I really thought he did a good job with Megatron. We all would've liked Welker to reprise the role of course, but maybe he didn't do the right voice for his audition (or wasn't even approached? I don't know the whole story there, but I DO know that his G1 Megatron voice would NOT have worked :lol  ), but at least Hugo Weaving did a pretty great job.

Welker's voice didn't sound right for the role, that's why they passed. Now that's he's changed his voice in Prime, now he fits.

Weaving, he made Megatron seem scary, especially in the first movie.

I agree. I love movieverse Megs and Weaving did a tremendous job voicing him. Unfortunetely, he has sworn off action movies now, so I doubt we will ever see or hear him again.

I only really liked his voice in the first movie. Not that his voice in the other 2 was bad

I absolutely love Hugo Heaving as Megatron, I thought he did an Awesome job in all three movies. At least in AOE Frank Welker has based his voice slightly like Weaving's

As much as he doesn't care for the role, I like his Megatron more than Welker's.

I agree with everyone else, Hugo was my favorite. But his voice really wouldn't fit with Galvatron.

I think Weaving's voice would have fit well with Galvatron. After all remember Galvatron is Megatron so I think he would have matched well.

I LOVED Hugo Weaving as Megatron! He was great. I think he was my favorite Megatron voice, second going to the guy who voiced TFA Megatron.

I thought Hugo's Megatron was a lot better. Mainly because Welker just comes across whiney, I couldn't see Hugo's Megatron saying: "They're ruining everything!"
So in that sense the dialog fit the voice.

But how badass would it have been to hear Hugo: "That is why I have no FEAR!"

Personally my favorite Megatron voice was the one from the first Transformers game. It sounds a bit like G1 Welker but retains some of that scary Hugo monotone. It's less bad-ass but more creepy.

But of course that's not likable in a movie to me though, movie wise I do like Hugo but his voice doesn't fit for Galvy's design in personality and character really. So much for Hugo Weaving appreciation.
