I’ll expand on the title

1). How would Optimus react if a human told him that he/she feels like killing themselves because of severe depression?

2). How would Optimus react if he witnessed a human actively trying to kill him/herself?

The version of Optimus in question is any version, discuss any.

I imagine not well. I would think 99% of all Optimus' would attempt to counsel them and get them to change their mind, and it would probably deeply sadden him to see someone do it.

 

Unless they're cemetery winds, he would try to stop them.

Even then, isn't the resolution about Prime reaffirming his faith in humanity and then leaving so he can protect the entire planet? Still not a guy who's just gonna watch someone commit suicide, no matter what they've done in the past.

 

Optimus Prime is more or less a robot Superman; he'd of course try to talk them out of it because he cares about the well-being of others.

 

He would attempt to copy the human's consciousness onto a floppy drive to save it as a backup.

 

I'm guessing OP doesn't have much experience with the character outside of the Bayverse. (Shame. Correct that, now.)

The REAL Optimus Primes of the past would basically be the robot version of the Superman comic shown above. If anything, we'd get an incredibly well-written dialogue about how life is precious and the battle is still being waged every day, etc. There'd be a lump in the throat, etc.

 

He kills HIMSELF sometimes soooo idk

 

I don't know if Optimus has had to talk someone out of killing themselves before.

I like to think it'd go something like this:

 

Hope is the right of all sentient beings.

 

And in that same movie, he killed a human.

Albeit said human was about to kill another human and is responsible for the deaths of Autobots.

 

As someone who is depressed and has more than a few suicidal thoughts over the last few months? I think I would find it hard to talk Optimus about it. I feel like there would be too much of a disconnect.

 

Humans aren't more precious than cybertronians, and if you are ready to kill someone, preper to get killed in return.

 

Exactly. Killing someone in the defense of others is different than "lol okay I'll just be over here watching while you kill yourself"

If you're not, get help. Real help.

I'm not being cold or mean, I'm being honest and I want you to be okay. You've already started a thread asking about if collecting has helped depression and now you're asking how Optimus would react to a human committing suicide because of severe depression in just two days. That a pretty clear message as to your mental state. If you're going through a rough patch, it's good to get help, any help you can. Calling the hotline (1-800-273-8255 or their web chat), if you're younger, seeing a counselor in your school or university, it's free. What's important is you speak to someone who can help. It's not weakness, it's not wrong, or bothersome to ask for help, even though right now it may feel that way. The right people want very much to help you. About 20 years ago, I was so miserable I was going to commit suicide (I even bought the method I was going to use) and as a last grasp at help, I saw my universities counselor, who got me help and helped me make some life changes. Even after for over a year, he kept seeing me once a week and it was a major help.

TFW is a good place, but it's not a replacement for real care, we're a wide range of weirdo's and smart-asses.

Even if you're not suicidal right now, or today, talk to someone professional and trained, that first step can be the hardest, but when you look back, you'll be glad you did.

Movie Optimus literally watched Jetfire kill himself and didn't seem to care.

As others have pointed out some versions of Optimus have killed himself... mainly Primal, UT, and Prime... though in all of those cases he was doing it to protect others not out of depression so I still think they would try to talk them out of it.
