So after checking out the "How old is TFW?" Thread, I wondered how Transformer threads were different 10-14 years ago compared to today. Were they any different? Just curious what you guys discussed back than when it came to the Transformers. :)

Also what were some of the best memories you had then?

Well, there was significantly less discussion of the movies, for one, obviously. There was also less of a "two-worlds" distribution of ages, as the fans who grew up on the original series were still in their 20s for the most part, and there were significantly less teenagers who had been brought in by the series at that time.

Other than that, not a lot of difference. Why not search back through the threads in this section by age and take a look?

I do that sometimes, go back to probably 2005-2007, see how things were before and after the movies arrived.

There was a lot more G1 praising with a bit of BW in it too. Everybody shat on the Unicron Trilogy.

It's a real shame that the site lost everything before late 2005, but in all honesty things really don't change...fans stick bickered with one another.

There was less of the whole "Hasbro owes us dammit" mentality.

"Third Parties" wasn't really much of a thing. Instead, the "Takara vs. Hasbro" debate was more prominent.

Do you know about the Internet Wayback Machine?

It's website where you can look at snapshots of how websites used to look. Sometimes the colours load a little wrong, but you can see what people were discussing from many years. Here's a link to TFW2005's history:

Yup. Third party wasn't a thing at all and knockoffs were blasphemous to have.

    .

It wasn't nostalgia when RiD was new and Beast Wars was only a few years old.

But yeah, you probably wouldn't have liked it as a kid because people were pretty frank about the flaws of the Unicron Trilogy.

I don't have any nostalgia for TFW2005 from 10 or more years ago. Despite my join date, I think it is an anomaly. I had posted on Transfandom instead... Maybe I was here then, I just don't remember.

Moreso, really, especially when you figure some people get nostalgic for shows like Animated now.
