The collected editions are $3.99 on comixology and I was wondering if it is any good? Is aimed at a younger audience? What is it like in general? Thanks.

they are the episodes in comic form. a little glitchy on comicxology, i think it's isue 4 and 5 which are essentially the same episode, but i am sure they will update and fix. fun if you liked the show, but not neccessarily 3.99 fun. nothing new fictionwise

To the best of my knowledge, these comics were actually direct adaptations of the cartoon, using stills from the actual cartoon, with very little new material(if any?). So, if you've seen the show, you've already read these comics.

Unless it's the UK Titan comics, don't bother, frankly.

There was also that six-issue mini-series, The Arrival, which wasn't terrible.

The Arrival was pretty good aside from how Dario Brizuela failed to grasp the TFA style.

Arrival ties into Animated. Same universe because IDW didn't want to make their own universe aside from G1.

If you liked the cartoon, definitely pick up The Arrival. They were written by the same team as the show, and are official fiction that takes places between eps, or in some cases, before the Autobots reached Earth. Some of the stories are pretty great. They are separate from the adapted issues which were the same stuff as in the show.

Agreed. I've been rereading this and there are some quality stories in it. The story with Starscream and Professor Princess is hysterical

And yet he comes alot closer than most other Animated sidematerial artists.

I can see where he deviates from the style in his drawings, definitely, but I'd much rather see him draw Animated - in a slightly stale, 'safe' way - than an artist who might try to draw something more dynamic and totally mucks it up. :)

Unless we can have Marcello Matere. He gets it 300%!

Anyway, I agree with everybody else: The Arrival is cool. I wouldn't bother with the little books that reuse screencaps from the show.
Oh, and if you can, try to get your hands on the Animated Botcon comic. That's the best one. :)

Damn, how did I forget about The Stunti-Con Job? Yeah that book was top tier.
