    Hey gang,

I got some Zoids weapons that I was planning to use with Diaclone figures, but the Zoids weapons are bigger than I estimated. They use 3mm pegs and ports, but I'm interested in using them with TFs, so 5mm is ideal.

Anyone know of any cheap rubber or plastic rings/sleeves/tubes that have a 3mm hole and a 5mm diameter? I'd love an easy way to mod these Zoids parts for TFs.

    Thanks!

3mm ID x 5mm OD silicone tubing, like what can be used in fish tanks, possibly? I haven't personally tried it, but it was the first thing to come to mind.

Silicone is too squishy to use.

There are plastic / acrylic tubes with 5mm OD and 3mm ID out there but typically have to be imported if you live in the US (since the US doesn't like metric still). Don't try the Tamiya brand ones, though. The inner diameter was 3mm but the outer was unfortunately not 5mm (more like 4.9 and too loose). Granted, I make my own but that's not feasible for most people.

If you do get acrylic tubes, be very careful when cutting them. They will act and break like glass.

The crazy straws that some people use to make 5mm pegs have a inner diameter of 3mm, so you can cut them to size and slide them right over the smaller peg.

Crazy straws? that sounds perfect. Any info on which ones, specifically?

I think they were Walmart or WinCo brand crazy straws, it's been years since I bought them.

I bought crazy straws at lile walmart or the dollar store and I can vouch that they're typically 5mm. If the inner part isn't 3mm, perhaps you can use a pen vise (small hand powered drill) to widen the hole.
