I started a mission on my own blog about how one could go about scoring a G1 Rotorstorm for free, a mission that's finally come to a conclusion. I didn't set out to get one free at first, or to make a big deal of it, I just wanted to pay as little as possible for a decent example. What happened along the way I felt was interesting enough to share. I hope you agree!

Pleasure to do to you what was done to me hah. You won't regret it, a really excellent Transformer. Don't be expecting TF Animated levels of posability :)

    Thanks man, much appreciated :thumb

I'll see if I can find my scan of the sticker sheet for you.

Since you're pretty well recognised in the community Reprolabels might be more willing to help you out in reproing a set than when it was just me.

That's much appreciated mate, thank you. I wouldn't really be too bothered if I never got his stickers and I'm not interested in repros, so please do not by any means go out of your way :thumb

My own sticker sheet is used, but I did scan it in but Reprolabels weren't interesting at the time. (strange seeing how they print rare japanese stickers but not rare European ones)

Trust me though, Rotorstorm looks even better with the stickers applied. Even if it is just on the shoulders to cover the screw holes

I have the Universe Whirl version of this figure, and differences aside, I really do like him. Great job on the quest. I would have driven my wife nuts if I had tried to do the same.

Well technically Maz you did pay 9.36 GBP but that is still a good price for him,I wish I had the patience and money to do that, but I do have the Machine Wars repaint that has most of his accessories and I am fine with that version, but anyway I am glad you got a complete Rotorstorm and hope he brings you many years of enjoyment.Later Maz.

I was lucky back in 2004 to get one on Ebay mint and complete from Wheeljackslab. It was around 12.00 with shipping. I like this mold a lot, but I don't like being shot in the face with super powerful missiles.

I grabbed a Stalker back then MIMB for around 20.00. Those were the days.
    Enjoy!

Though not as pretty as that version, I've got the Machine Wars Sandstorm version of that mold, and I must say it's one of my favorites in that line, next to Starscream. Really cool figure.

Actually, you could argue that I bought an Animated Leader Bulkhead and BotCon Sideswipe for £9.36 shipped (well well below the value for those two) and got a boxed Rotorstorm for free with it.

Also, if I were to sell the non-Rotorstorm items I got in exchange for the Sunstreaker I would actually have made money in the whole exchange.

I didn't spell it out in the article, but the implication was that the £9.36 could be put down to postage charges of sending other people's stuff, and the actual Rotorstorm (let's not forget there are TWO I have) worked out free.

However you swing it, that Rotorstorm worked out not costing me anything in my opinion :)

Yep, I got shot in the eye with one of his missiles when I was trying to remove a launcher. Not something I'll forget in a hurry.

I really like the Sandstorm very much, I'm trying to find one for a good price to stand next to Rotorstorm :)

    All the best
    Maz

I've seen this guy on a collector store! He's missing a gun and the propellor.

I've used a version of this to get everything in my collection for "free."

I buy and sell stuff all the time, and put the money into a sub-account in my savings. For about 5 years I've not spent any of "my own money" on toys at all. Its all money I've made selling other things. It started with some seed money selling off some guitar pedals a while back and built up from there.

Machine Wars is such a fun, brief line to collect anyways :)  This is the version of the figure I have as well. I'd still like the Euro TFs, though :/

I snagged an incomplete Rotorstorm off the wall at my local comic shop for $10 US righ after Last Stand of the Wreckers wrapped up. He has no blades or missles but does have the turbine guns so I decided that he's a spaceship lol. I do love that bot mode.
