Okay folks; recently, I noticed that my MP Megs' feet and other metal parts were getting a bit cruddy looking. Since I was going to repaint them anyways, I decided to try my "Pro-Grade" abrasive fiberglass pen on them.

    The pen:

    The results:

The right foot was the "control", while the left one got the pen. I was pretty pleased with the results, and used the pen on the other foot and the rest of the tarnished metal parts.

(Right now, working on redoing Megatron's legs so they look in scale with MP Prime's and still transform!)

I'm intrigued by the last part!! The pen though, that's clever.

My brother was in High School ROTC and always used Brass-O brass polish for his belt buckle and other uniform medals; I tried it on my MP Megs metal and it works! It is messy and leaves a crud that needs thorough wiping, but it does work. It convinces me that the problem with Meg's feet is a form of TARNISH/oxidation.

Thanks for the input guys. :)  I like the pen because it leaves no residue or mess. But the other methods you mentioned may do a better, more thorough job of cleaning. I'll have to look into it. :thumb up

Omegaprime1983: yeah, I had done some buildup on the legs, but I feel it needs more. I needed some time away from the Cybertron and Ark projects, and this was an ongoing thing I had let simmer for a bit. At this juncture, any further beefing up of the thighs will have to be parts that fold away until needed in robot mode. I got Meg's legs about 60- 70 percent the mass of Prime's, but a lot of stuff had to be modified for a little mass there. I also need to address the knee joint issue (too thin).

I'll put up some pics I have of MP Megatron tonight. I'm still researching the leg issue, but I'll post what I have so far.

I managed to get that shit off Megatron's feet with just a bit of spit and a rag. It's atmospheric crud, not actual tarnish or oxidization.
