Anyone know how to clean this type of stuff?

As you can see the glass on it has yellowed. I think that it's most likely residue from smoking around them for many years.

So I'm wondering if something like simple green would work. If you don't know what it is, it's a de-greaser and I know it worked great on my computers motherboard for removing the same stuff. However I'm not sure if it will ruin the figure or the paint on it.

I have already tried washing it with soap and water and that didn't help, it got the dust off of it, but not the yellowing.

Any thoughts on how to clean this up?

Yeah, lemme confirm that. I got multiple versions of Sideburn here, and each version of him has gold windows identical to that. Your Sideburn looks to be in good shape. If there is any discoloration, it may just be due to age. (It IS a ten year old toy after all.)

All my sideburns have tinted windows OP

there's nothing wrong with yours. however, you do need a better camera.

IIRC, the Takara version has clear windows, while the Hasbro version has smokey grey windows.

I think Prowl had the same distinction as well.

Either that, or there's straight-up variant runs, which is also possible.

Whatever the case, it's not yellowed. It's supposed to be that way.

As people have said, Sideburn's clear plastic is supposed to be yellow, the white robot parts are more likely to be miscoloured.

Well, I guess that settles it, thank you. I thought it was discolored. I'm glad to hear it's not...

Oh and that camera was my phone and then images were resized to a much smaller size than the originals. I was also at work with all lights except, the one on my desk, were off.

If you're concerned about your figures, stop smoking now.

yeah forget about your lungs, we're all gonna die any way, but if you gonna die at least leave your toys in clean and good condition for the estates sales. bargain hunters like us appreciate that.

Seriously? What does this have to do with cleaning a figure?

Second, I have stopped smoking around my figures a couple of years ago, they stay in the house and I smoke outside in the garage.

The damage in question, came from when I bought them, I used to go to the store trippin on acid and come home and smoke many blunts while playing with them with my friends, it was fun...

However since then, I have quit all drugs, and I now have 3 kids, and a full time job. I've had my transformers on shelves in my office, which was where I smoked at, and now that I moved from an apartment to a house, I no longer smoke (cigs) inside and I finally got around to arranging my TF's properly (in the house) and started cleaning them up so they no longer show wear from my "party" days.

You don't have to explain yourself to anyone, especially here.

    Don't fret.

I'm just glad your figure isn't ruined. :)
