If there aiming for a G1 accurate franchise then Megatron should have a design that resembles stormbringer from the IDW Comic autocracy.


If they plan on making it a continuity that has virtually no relation to G1 and Travis knight want's to have his designs with there own originality to them, then Megatron should look like his 07 bayverse counterpart with a few tweaks with the the voice of Frank welker and the pitch and tone of TFP Megatron. I know that's ironic considering what I said earlier about the design having it's own originality to, it. Strength wise he should be level with 1986 Megatron from the G1 movie.

As much as I like that he should be on par with 1986 Megatron it's felt like a century since we've last seen them fight on equal footing.

 

if the yolopark silhouette is representative of the megatron that is being used for the films i think he should be like his infiltration appearance where he's unphased by most attacks

 

I just like the idea of seeing two titans one the same level fighting it out. Makes it a lot more interesting.

Yes however Megatron has unbelievable amounts of experience under his belt Optimus was pretty much a pipsqueak before, he became a prime Megatron was a warrior and possibly the most renowned and powerful one on cybertron even surpassing people like Sentinel prime who was the leader of the elite security force back on cybertron. Optimus had virtually no combat experience before hand so them being equals would be the most realistic take on there rivalry bare in mind Megatron was leading the decepticon charge and engaging in terf wars before orion even became Optimus so he's also got more experience on the front lines.

To add to that he's a veteran and an expert in h2h Combat due to having numerous victories in kaon City.

 

Fair enough. Does depend on the continuity though. IDW Prime was a cop, I think. Which is nowhere near gladiator levels but it's still something.

 

He should be a bit more powerful than Optimus. Since the definitive backstory for Megatron is that he's a gladiator, it would make sense for him to be a total brute in battle.
And if we're on the subject of Alt-modes; Megatron should be a Cybertronian Tank, so he's still technically a gun and because it'd be a good parallel to Optimus.
Optimus is a Semi-truck leading Automobiles, and Megatron is a Tank leading Military vehicles.

I’d like him to be stronger than Optimus, but maybe not as nimble. He’s a big gladiator, he’s used to quick fights and beating his opponents within a few minutes of the battle starting. So in a closed space he could kick Prime to bits, but Prime is smart enough to keep his distance.

 

• A real threat. Imagine Autobots screaming like Darth Vader's gonna kill them in Rogue One. Or like when Ironhide screams "It's Starscream!"

 

Optimus vs Megatron, think Tony Stark vs Thanos. Mcu Thanos is actually very close to the personality I would hope to get out of Megatron

I think Megatron and any other decepticon, should have incredible strength.

Travis improved those details a bit compared to Bay.

In his 5 films, if we remove the Autobots from the screen, it would be practically the same.Decepticons never turned out to be a threat to the military.

I want to see a single Decepticon destroy an entire army ... like Blackout (I don't understand why they made him weak afterwards) The Fallen and Blitzwing.

The ones who shows these characters,always had to be like this, so that the presence of the Autobots it would have been really necessary.

 

Nothing human built should scratch his armor.

But he should take damage, but the difference is, no matter how damaged he should be an unstoppable force.

He should not lose limbs.

 

There are ways to make Megatron a gun without breaking suspension of disbelief or dissuading Hasbro from making a toy. But you'll need to bend his concept slightly.

1. He can't be a realistic gun. Make him the McGuffin but humans believe he's a Cybertronian weapon of mass destruction. Something like this (which transforms into a human/'07 Frenzy-sized robot mode):


2. His gun mode can be inserted into a larger tank mode shell, resulting in an Evergreen Megatron look:

Studio Series - perfect transformation with both the Core Class targetmaster-style figure and the leader sized tank shell-former
Budget-point toys focused on just the tank form
NERF Megatron - full scale replica of the gun mode without the robot mode
