You know you got a plastic crack addiction problem when you can't sleep because of a lost eBay auction. I was patrolling ebay and I noticed these variant mini bots in a eBay lot. I thought I might win as the seller did not know he/she had these rare figures, the listing ended at 11 pm pacific time on a Saturday night (and I was hoping the east coasters would be snoring in their beds and the west coasters would be out partying dancing to gungnam style - as a new dad there was little chance I would be out in the clubs), and the auction only had a sole, grainy picture. The lot contained G1 huffer in pipes color, g1 brawn in outback colors and g1 gears in swerve colors - I think they are Mexican iga figures. I personally know very little about the value. However, I blame MAZ for my instant and uncontrolled desire to own these figures. The more I read his articles, the stronger my addiction grows for transformer oddities. The auction was at $33 dollars with just a minute or two left and in the last minute ended at 162.50. I bid up to 162. Should I have bid more? what do you think is the value of the lot? I MIGHT have gone more but know so little about the figures, their rarity, and value. I WOULD have bid more but, the chrome on all three figures seemed lacking and I already own the other figures in the lot - crosshairs, Slamdance, and crankcase. Help me sleep!!! Someone please put my out of my misery and say that the buyer overpaid by $50 or give it to my straight and tell me I wasted an amazing opportunity to own rare transformers' history. If you want to attract the attention of someone who knows what you're talking about, you should give more thought to your thread title. Something like "Current value of Mexican IGA mini-bots...?" may get you an answer... A ridiculously vague title like "How much?" is likely to get ignored. Sorry I can't be of more help than that.
FYI , us east coasters start partying at 12:AM. Lol. Bars arnd here don't close till 2 sometimes 3am. So alot of us stalk eBay all hours of the night. Just so ya know for next time.
Happens to all of us who partake in eBay auctions on a regular basis. You'll live. Life goes on. Get some goddam sleep and don't let TOYS ruin your life.
It's sometimes hard to find, but there is good advice in this thread. They are indeed IGA minis and turbo + Genetic are right in implying that the end price was a total bargain. People pay much more for these variants these days, but that's not to say it's completely justified. It doesn't take anyone on these boards very long to locate these supposedly hyper-rare Iga variants when they decide they want them badly enough to really dig in and find them. There were a whole load of these found a few years ago and as a result there are a number of minty loose ones on the market. Having said that, yeah even at $300 you stand to make profit if you choose to sell. The real Mexican rarities are the silver Cliff, white Cliff, Silver bee (all 3 with red face), yellow and blue Windcharger and all blue Huffer. The rest I've seen on a few occasions over the last 18 months. The regular coloured Mexican Iga minibots are by no means easy to find either. All the best Maz
I think the problem with the regular ones is that there's nothing to set them apart from the US releases so they'd be difficult to prove as being Mexican. The only one that jumps out as being different is Windcharger, but that's only in robot mode if you know what you're looking for.
That's a very good point actually, it's the same reason finding another early pre rub Windcharger with upside-down front grille, or variant Joustra miniibots is a headache too far. At least with the Mex if you can see the Autobot chest sticker or copyright you have some hope. All the best Maz
oh the fun of browsing through "lots" on ebay. i wish i had time to do that daily again. sorry you didn't win. -
With a 90% feedback rating, you know you will get the lot at a steep discount, as many bidders would stop looking at the auction when they see 90%, sounds like you should have sniped with a nuclear bid.
