I was just curious and I was wondering if anyone knew how much a g1 prime and g1 jetfire would be if you bought them at a local store back in the 1980's

Probably help if you tell us where you are, so we know where "local" is. :)

    (I'll assume you're in the U.S?)

According to a JC Penny catalog, Jetfire was 37.99 and prime was 24.99.

(although they may have charged more than other retailers?)

There was a website around at some point that listed all the original prices for TFs, but a quick google turned up nothing.

Yeah, I'm in the US the prices are similar to todays prices though I'm guessing 37.99 and 24.99 was alot back then

I did a GIS for "1984 toy catalog" and came up with a few hits...
The best image I saw in my quick little search is out of a Janet Frazer autumn and winter 1984/5 mail order catalog. Prices appear to be European, so I don't know what the U.S. conversion would have been at the time.

In 1984, 1 british lb was worth 1.4$ so prime would have been 19.6$ and Jetfire would have been 9.8$ then again maybe they were cheaper in britain than the US

Adjusting for inflation (1983-2007) that would make Jetfire $78.12 and Optimus Prime $51.39 in today's dollars. So yes, expensive.

If I can go back in time and buy these...but I don't think my 21st century bills would work in the 80's.

Both my Starscream and Sunstreaker still have a TRU price tag on the box saying 11.97 and 9.97 respectively.

Some sellers are just delusional. Let them rot with their stuff.
