I've sworn off the Cybertron line, and buying toys in stores in general. I can't go waste money on impulse like I used to anymore. Then again, I just discovered BBTS. And I plan to go to Botcon or OTFCC. I guess I'll be breaking even by the end of the year. Which means, all the income not intended for rent/food/car insurance/student loans is going toywards.
10K this month going back to collect all the gi fss figures from all 8 years, convention figures, and 25th carded figures. 35-50k on sideshow, prime 1, pcs, statues. this doesn't included the new items from motu and transformers misb/ moc items.
Damn. You baller. Never added up what I spend. I don't really want to honestly. I know it's not 50G's a year though.
This. I don’t “plan” to spend any amount, I just buy what I want. It is definitely always in the 5 figure range.
Was about to say that. Same. I don't really "plan" my purchases and just get what I want when I can afford it. Sometimes I'll prioritize things over others being released that month. Definently one of the perks of being an adult with a decent amount of non-essential income.
Wow, seriously? I had to start reselling to get that high. Or was I high when I decided to start reselling. Anyway, it looks like this year I will top out around $3000.
Same as above. I don't have a budget per se, but I definitely have limits. I'm pretty sure I've approached the 5 figure range, but don't think I've quite crossed it. Over the last several years I've really tried to sell off things to help fund future purchases, so my current out of pocket spending has been lower, though this year I have been a little more loose (still sold a lot, but have purchased even more). My volume isn't crazy high, but the average cost is starting to take a toll. For instance, MP BW Megatron x2, HT Strange/Gamora/Wasp, Lego Roller Coaster, Lego Voltron, Lego Hogwarts, whatever MP Prime v3 costs, Mezco (Daredevil, IM, Darkseid, Strange, etc). That's easily over $2500 and neglects the SHF, ML, revo, sigma, mafex, BTAS/JLA stuff that fills out the remainder of my shopping list. A little scary when I add it up.
I feel like such a lightweight. Some of these people spending thousands a decade ago when prices were so much lower must've cleared entire aisles every week and burned them for fuel to keep from being buried under it all.
There was so much less to buy a decade ago. We have it amazing, but there is so much to potentially get and a surplus of choices that make it harder nowadays.
Yeah, I wasn’t spending nearly as much decades ago unless we count comic books. About 10 years ago, spending $100 or more for a toy was not something I did often but I could spend around $200 a week on comic books.
