As a pedestrian I don't know how many times I have almost been hit by somebody who is distracted by a cellphone or something similar... I'll see the green walk symbol, I'll look both ways, I'll start to cross, then the jackass on his phone decides it's his turn to, well, turn. I had to get out of his way! I wish police were around more often when this kind of thing happens..

 

I've only ever been in one accident in my life (discounting the deer I hit in '98) and it was cuz I was 17 and staring a some girl walking down the road. It was my fault and thankfully no one was hurt. I learned from my mistake.

Let me fix that for ya. Bottom line, if you're texting while driving, you're in the wrong...Always. If you're not texting while driving, then you're simply arguing for the sake of it.

 

Okay, as much as I dislike GW_Freak, I read a reply of his that dictates that he's smart enough not to be pushing buttons and looking at the screen of a cell phone while driving.

Can I please ask him to come forward and say what he would do in his car in terms of using a cell-phone? I ask this so that there could be a possible stop to this bickering.

I hate talking on the phone. I next to never ever talk on it, certainly not when I am driving. There is a reason I use thousands of messages a month and less than 60 minutes of talk time...

 

I've never sent a text message. Ever.

I don't even own a phone, it'd be an expense I couldn't justify, and anyway I got scared when I used to speak to people on the phone.   lol

I really didn't want a heated discussion of texting while driving, which I think is crazy and dangerous (not to mention illegal in my State of Minnesota).

Back to the topic of the thread, I can't imagine how someone can send 14K texts a month. There's no way I could do it since I'm so slow at it, don't have a plan for it, and have no need to text much.
