    Girl, 13, sends 14,528 texts in a month - UPI.com

    I sent 1 text last month, I can't imagine sending 14k.

    Wow, I only average 2 - 4 thousand....

Conversely I use less than 60 minutes of talk time a month total.

In my lifetime, I've sent 2 text messages. I'm hardcore... I know.

I just find it takes me too long to type something on my lame-o phone.

What do people have against texting? It's less annoying that idiots on headsets or just their fun yelling into the damned phone while on the bus or walking down the street. I also hate ringtones. People should put their damned phones on vibrate while in public, no one else wants to hear that annoying shit you think is so clever.

I sent 2 to a friend in europe , one on x-mas and one on new years lol..

I really dont see the big thing with texting, to see people having conversations for hours with one person on a cell phone with just text has got to be the stupidest thing in the world. Just call the damn person already and talk to them!

I even see people doing it while driving WTF, thats complete stupidity there. I actually seen 2 accidents happen because the driver was texting while driving.

I had a guy that worked for my company, and he started texting while we were driving and i was like " i don't think so man , put that S&%T away or you can go home now". So he puts it away but it continues to beep over and over and it drove me nuts so i told him to turn it off or something or ill chuck it out the window.. Then !! while we are working , i do lawn irrigation btw lol which involves alot of digging. Everytime i look up the kid is texting someone.. And im hinking " this kid has got to be addicted to this and have some balls to do it in front of his boss all day" so i made him put the phone in he truck but then he kept goin to the truck every 10 min to get a drink and check his phone.. SO finally i told him to take his phone and hit the road. and he was like " Why am i fired ? " and i just looked at him and was like " Really ? "
Text messages are one of the worst things ever invented.

I feel just the opposite. Hell if he wasn't texting he would've been on the phone all damned day. At least when I am texting you don't have to listen to my half of conversation you don't want any part of. Texting while driving is less of a problem than all moron who TALK on their phones while driving. Using a phone while driving is the problem not JUST texting.

I do the majority of my texting for work. That's one of the ways my group communicates.

I texted just once since I bought my cell phone about two years ago. It's one of those pay as you go phones, so I rarely use it.

I hate cellphone culture in general. I never use my cell unless it's for an actual reason, and I've never sent a text in my life.

It's a waste of time, and it's distracting. I spend enough time posting in these forums. If I spent any more time idly on that crap, I'd never get anything done (and I procrastinate enough as it is).

Except that he was supposed to be working. You're not on the job so you can keep social tabs on your drinking buddies or whatnot. You're supposed to be working. If you're texting/chatting all day, and you're not working for a call center, GTFO.

It's a form of communication and if it's distracting you then you pay too much attention what other people are doing.

I think you will notice I said it wasn't the fault that he was texting, because if he wasn't texting then he'd be talking on the phone instead. Don't blame the Cell phone, blame the idiot ON the Cell phone.

I text all the time. I Prefer to text then talk on the phone. I'm on the phone all day at work, last thing I want to do on my off time is talk on the phone!

I'm not saying that it's distracting to me personally what other people are doing. But people treat their cell phones like it's the most important thing in the world, and it's distracting to them. Keeping lines of communication open is good and healthy. Treating it like it's your lifeblood, and prioritizing idle chit-chat over your actual responsibilities is, however, not.

He did blame the idiot on the cell phone. That's why he fired the git.

In your opinion. I don't have a problem with people who text in public. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

His post made it sound like he blamed texting for the kids inability to work. In reality it's just that kid was a lazy bastard who wouldn't have worked anyway.
