I thought a few months ago that I’d be very slowly scraping together an MP collection, but after finding out what the legends scale is all about I’m really drawn to what they’re doing. I’m still going to pick up some MPs, but not nearly as much as I thought a few weeks back.

Unlike most here, I saw the G1 cartoon in a very different order so for me it tends to be more of which character's design/personality I thought was awesome as opposed to which came first. That and also I'm not a gotta catch them all kind of collector.....the astronomical prices these days will definitely keep that mantra in check. On that note the remaining robots I need in my collection which would make me comfortably stop collecting today are (Sunbow G1 only)....

Rodimus Prime - Although TT have been off their game lately, I feel they are the only ones that can do him justice.
Galvatron - See above. Sovereign has an incredible bot mode but I still feel TT can up FT on this. His altmode and transformation is where I feel the figure is let down but in all honesty after the cluster fuck MP-44 was in terms of transformation I feel this guy has been somewhat vindicated for his terrible transformation.
Jazz - See above.
Skywarp - Just around the corner from TT.
Apeface - the current option is unacceptable.
Brainstorm - A sunbow G1 version please. Not interested in the maketoys Japanese influenced version.
The Technobots - A sunbow G1 accurate version from FT would be very welcome.
The Constructicons - The current options and the king of Chugsterpiece, Constructor, isn't even afterthought. A real sunbow version, FT?

Omissions:

Nothing beyond G1 Seasons 1,2 is a priority, including TF The Movie, S3, and S4. Although I do not consider the S3 combiners, Citybots, etc. above as "need" it sure would be nice to see proper MP/3P releases of them, especially within a reasonable price range which appears to be a thing of the past now. FT Fort Max looks awesome but with a $150 deposit, I can only imagine what the retail price will be, expect the price will be higher than Haslab Unicron.

They are great specialy the latest releases, they are becoming small MP's by now.

 

I like how myself and pretty much everyone including the op himself doesn't state how many characters he needs to complete their collections instead just state the characters they need even though that's what the title demands?

 

On that note...minus my honorable mentions I have 16 bots to collect.

I've been complete, just picking up what I like and figure version upgrades that appeal. I only wanted the Ark crew.

 

The biggest holes in my collection were Scorponok and Unicron, but thanks to Earthrise and Haslab they are filled now. I don't have a specific goal for my collection so while there are some must have characters like Ultra Magnus, the dinobots, the city bots I plan to keep going as long as I find figures that I like. Having said that, if I am being told that I can buy only two more characters and then retire from collecting, I'll say MP Defensor and MP Computron.

For masterpiece, I only need the trailer for Motormaster, Hoist, and Astrotrain. I'll buy a few others if decent versions ever become available: Runabout and Runamuck, Octane (I went back and forth on KFC's version before finally concluding it just wasn't good enough), and maybe a few others, but my mp collection is pretty much just S1, S2, and TFTM and I've got all of them except the few I listed.

Legends is another story. I will buy any character that had an appearance in the US cartoon or the Marvel comic, so I'm pretty far from being done there.

In terms of figures I want for my MP collection, I'd like everything from '84 and '85, then I'm picking and choosing from '86 upwards, and that way, if collections don't get complete releases for whatever reason (for example, the Autobot Headmasters), I'll just sell off the ones I've got. As of right now, there are only 7 "essential" characters that I don't have a figure of:

Once I've got these, I'll consider my MP collection complete, and anything else I get is a bonus.

As far as my IDW collections goes, once I've got MMC's Tesarus and the inevitable Earthrise Grapple repaint for Inferno, I'm done... and once again, anything extra is just gravy.

 

I am a legends collector so I have plenty of room. So I have recently split my collection between NewAge, UT, DX9 and Magic Square for G1, Iron Factory for IDW and TE for Beast Wars.

I'd like to have in legend scale the cartoon G1 characters with an Earth alt mode with Shockwave as the exception to the rule. Maybe the movie cast. After watching the whole cartoon again last year the season 4 characters just don't have the same appeal for me as season 1 and 2. With season 3 I'll be picky. I'd like to say I don't need Predaking, Abominus and Computron but I think I'll cave, combiners do have a special place in my heart.
