So if there is one thing we know about Optimus it is that he always dies. So here we are, Season 3. The infamous Optimus death season.

So what are your guesses? Does he die this year or not?
Who do you think kills him?
How many episode's in is he killed?
    Who replaces him as leader?

    Here is my thoughts:
    - Yes he dies
    - Predaking kills him
    - He is killed at the mid season break
    - Ultra Magnus replaces him and stays leader for a while

Right now I'm more inclined to believe he won't die in TFP, at least not permanently. If this pattern of Optimus's dying is constant, so is his rebirth.

Megatron considers killing Optimus his personal privilege, so I doubt he'd allow any Decepticon to kill Optimus.

If he has to be replaced, perhaps they'll introduce Hot Rod, then the Matrix will choose and reformat him into Rodimus Prime, repeating the TF history

Well, in the Unicron arc he didn't die but he definitely sacrificed himself for the sake of everyone else.
He spent some time with his memory gone as Orion Pax, and then was reborn as Optimus Prime.
So, in my opinion, the death and rebirth aspect has already been done.

I would be surprised if they did it again.

If it was up to me, Optimus Prime would be charged with treason against Cybertron and the Autobot war effort and ground commander Ultra Magnus is sent to arrest and replace him.

That's worst than death, the non Earth Autobots turning against him over what he did on Cybertron. Showing that Cybertron comes first, showing Ratchet's reaction would be the normal reaction for non Earth Autobots.

Uh, or he could already be dead? I mean, the base was demolished.

We've seen him alive and well in the Season 3 preview.

I'm gonna guess either never or at the very end of the series.

No, those were older clips from past episodes. The only legit season three episode clip we have seen is when Megatron is sitting down as Shockwave and Predaking enters by a portal. At that time, many were wondering why Dreadwing wasn't there and why was Starscream back.

Assuming he didn't die in the season two finale, I would assume that it's unlikely he'll die at all in season three. If he isn't dead, than he's in stasis, like Megs was. I would imagine the Autobots would find some way of getting him and reviving him. We'll just have to wait and see.

No, we didn't. The only clips from season three that we've seen revolve entirely around the Decepticons and the introduction of Predaking.

So you would like for them to do the same thing they did in the comic?

Im hopin hes already dead and then one of the autobots, like Smokescreen for instance, has to step up to be the leader. Wasnt it said that the purpose of this show to show what it means to be a Prime? What better way than to have someone have to fill in the steps of Optimus...

I'd prefer it if Optimus wasn't straight up Dead. Megatron wouldn't like it. He wants to kill him with his own two hands and watch the life ebb from Optimus' eyes. He can't do that by blowing up the base from a distance.

Probably Megatron finds Optimus and decides to nurse him back to health on the Nemesis so that he may properly kill him in the future.

"Why are you doing this, Megatron? Why not just let me die there in the rubble..." Optimus asks bewildered as to where he is.

"Because I want the pleasure of killing you directly with my own two hands. I want to watch the life vacate from your eyes." Megatron says coldly before walking out of the med bay.

Megatron would have to be stupid to do that. Prime's there, he's beaten, and the dream is in sight. Why not finish it?

All he has to do is find some steel, thrust into a big rock, lift the hammer back and slam it into Prime's head. He's evil, why health Prime back to good shape and take the chance of getting beaten?

I don't see it. First of all it sounds very similar to what IDW did.

Secondly it seems as if the focus of Season 3 will be the Predacons. Honestly, I doubt they'll touch on Prime destroying the Omega Lock more then once or twice. They have the Forge, so the room is there, from a story telling perspective, to rebuild the Lock. I don't see any 'Bot mutiny.

Besides, from an in-universe perspective, what authority does Magnus have to arrest Optimus Prime? He's the Prime.

    IDW?

See that's why people get annoyed with TFP, stuff happens and there is hardly any reaction. This shouldn't be over look, as Team Prime is being hunted down by Predacons, there should be a clear image of conflicted Autobots.

That's the point, an Autobot being sent by a reformed Autobot government to arrest Prime for actions that he did to prevent Cybertron from being restored to life and before that, handing the keys to a Decepticon. Prime isn't a god, he's an Autobot.

If I were Megatron I would wait until Optimus tries to escape. Then try to kill him.

Not to mention, Megatron isn't impervious from dumb decisions. Especially when it comes to his jealous defensiveness over being the one to kill Optimus.

The comics. There's an arc where Ultra Magnus, wielding some vaguely defined legal authority, comes to question Optimus Prime's leadership, specifically in regards to Earth and humanity.

So you have Decepticons, Predacons, the Team Prime Autobots, and the other Autobots? It's a bit much, don't you think?
I'm of the opinion that MECH and Starscream's lone wolf status were done away with because there was concern that things would get a bit to complicated once Predacons were added to the mix. Remember, this is a kid's show at the end of the day. You can't have to many factions running around with their own agendas.

He's not a god, but he is the Prime. From what I understand regarding the Aligned continuity the Prime's more then just a military leader of a faction.
Besides, you can't just arrest the President because a decision he made was unpopular. There's a whole legal process you have to follow to unseat what is essentially a sitting head of state.

Now don't get me wrong, trials in sci-fi can work. Baltar's trial in the new Battlestar Galactica series was some of that show's finest material. Measure of a Man and The Drumhead were some of Star Trek TNG's best episodes.
Again though, Prime is a kid's show. I doubt the target demographic will be all that interested in watching the impeachment trial of Optimus Prime.

I doubt they'll kill him unless they plan to keep him dead, like they promised.
