Honestly, I hate it.

When I turn my Xbox on the first thing I want to do is see who is online and what they're playing. Facebook and Netflix and everything else is nice, but it's always secondary to seeing what games my friends are playing and if I want to play with them.

They have friends and avatars buried too deep in the interface.

The video section is comprised of not one, but two 'Coming Soon' entries.
Why didn't they just delay the launch until everything was ready?

Also, have my 'Premium Themes' that I paid actual money for just been rendered useless?

 

Premium themes aren't rendered useless, Smasher. They're still usable. But to be honest, I have to agree with you, the new update SUCKS. Apparently Microsoft is blissfully ignorant of the old phrase, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

 

Press A to play what's in the tray after initial boot up > any other gripes anyone might have about the new dash.

Haha, when I first got my xbox two weeks ago, I was wondering were the hells wwe 12. go all left and right then down, and no wwe 12. down, down, down, then there it is. then i find out you go up one and you can play, but like you said bro "Press A to play" is what I expected two weeks ago.

 

i can live with the dashboard update, but the Netflix update is horrid.

 

Pretty cool, I quite like it. Just gotta get used to it  

 

I like the new features, cloud storage and beacons, but I dislike the new layout of the dashboard and netflix very much.

 

They went bye bye after the update and I didn't see the option to 'Change Theme' anywhere.

 

go to the "Social" tab, and highlight your own avatar, you should get a screen with your achievements, Customize Avater and, Change Theme

I like the quickplay. The new dash isn't too bad once you're a little more familiar with it. The Hulu plus update to match, though, is far less pleasing. I miss the one button adding to my queue, and having episodes in a nice little list.

 

Premium Themes still work. You have to open the full friends list. It does take some time for the little sets to load in though.

 

I'm getting used to it, but I still don't like a lot about it.

I got my themes to load -and, yeah, it takes a while for the graphics to appear behind your friends' avatars.

 

YouTube and Rogers on Demand are now LIVE.

 

Youtube is nice but it feels so clunky to use

I still hate the huge ads everywhere though, but eh its not like we pay to have Xbox Live Gold

I liked the old dash better, now navigating to your friends is such a pain I just use the guide rendering my Street Fighter beach babes theme pointless. Pointless I say.

Also goddamn could you fit any more ads in there really?

Watching a Peaugh vid on it, now. The playback's pretty nice. Wish it had the annotations, for the guitar playing videos I like to watch.
And the SyFy app... nothing but clips and bullshit! awesome. Way to launch with barebones content.

 

yea that Syfy app is shit, I figured itd atleast have Eureka or Haven on it but it was nothing more than clips. IHeartradio was kinda meh as well, it has none of the good stations for my area. its almost all country stations too. TMZ idk why we even needed that same with Epix and Bing

but honestly I can care less about all that stuff. I want the Xfinity app

 

I installed the Verizon Fios app last night.
It’s odd. There’s no Video On Demand at all and instead of having the full channel lineup it has just 21 random stations.
I mean, why not just have all the stations you have in your plan?
It’s also underscanned –or maybe that’s just because I have my Xbox hooked up to a VGA monitor so my resolution is a little different.

So, while I think the principle is neat –because I don’t have a cable box in the back room, it’s execution is flawed.
I’ll probably never use it on the Xbox at the main TV that does have a Verizon STB.
