Maybe they're planning a repaint/remold of Drift into a character someone gives a shit about.

Not really feeling that Darkmount figure. Still, if he's a Deluxe I'll probably pick him up. Can't be as bad as ROTF Rampage or TFU Cheetor.

 

How is Drift NOT in the Generations line?

Since when does the word "Generations" mean solely oldschool remakes? Drift is part of the IDW Generation of Transformer. I welcome any IDW incarnation of a Transformer, any day. If they'd get on the ball more with this kind of thing, I'd have my proper plastic Nova Prime.

But I do agree we need some heavy duty G2 love this time around.

Not to mention Wheeljack & Jazz in a nice Deluxe size.

 

IDW and Dreamwave just called. They want a word.

 

Transformers Universe did sound like a catch-all term for me.
But i won't nitpick a toy line's name change as long as the spirit of what I wanted for the line is realized.

I hope in the many generations out there, we get healthy samples from each, and depending upon the success of WfC, we may get that.
I can be patient and wait for a Generations War Within figure, or Japanese only characters. And as someone said in another post, the TFA line can be kept going (in increments) under this catch all banner.

That Darkmount figure looks like the bastard child of a Decepticon and an Erector set- ME WANT!

My way of thinking is the reason they've gone with some kinda oddball choices now is because they're in it for the long haul. They're stringing us along, saving all the cool guys for later.

That's just optimistic speculation of course.

 

Let's step back for a moment and appreciate the irony of someone whose username is "HAILTHEFALLEN" questioning the ret-conning of a comic-spawned character into G1 continuity.....

(No offense meant, HAILTHEFALLEN, you are asking a legitimate question.... I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just did find the irony chuckle-worthy.  )

 

Drift is only in the generations toyline because IDW said there would be a toy of him.That led to the fandom asking repeatedly if it was true, and Hasbro mistaken it for fan demand, so Marty-Stu's immortalized in plastic forever

Do we have a complete list of what figures are officially showing up under the 'Generations' banner? I'm wondering if all of these figures will have the 'Classics' vibe unlike 'Universe 2.0' where only some of the figures were 'Classics' (brand new G1 homage molds vs. repaints of previous Energon/Cybertron molds) in nature while others were from Animated and repaints of Cybertron molds. As it stands now the only 'Generations' molds I'm aware of are as follows:

-Darkmount (Straxus)
-Thrust (Gentei repaint)
-Drift

Is 'War For Cyberton' stuff really going under 'Generations' packaging or it's own WFC packaging? If not, three molds doesn't make a series and Hasbro will surely have further announcement they'll be dolling out in the weeks/months to come. Hopefully, including the highly desired Jazz, Wheeljack, Hoist and other G1/G2 homages on top of giving us more Euro/Japanese/Comic figures that'll kick@$$ that are technically G1 canon even though their toys were never produced by Hasbro for the US market.

 

It's possible. They get feeling like there isn't enough buzz and all they have to do is announce a figure that fans have been going crazy for has an upcoming release.

 

At the end of the day, I'm just glad Drift is getting a regular/widespread release - & not ending up as a Botcon/TFCC exclusive. I've been anticipating the Drift figure ever since it was confirmed many, many moons ago & even though the vehicle doesn't look a whole lot like the concept artwork, I'm not disappointed at all.

BTW when are these lines supposed to start hitting anyways. All the packaging seem to be done and ready to go considering the bios are already done (going by Jetblade's)
