Sky-byte was an epic transformer, he made haiku cool.

I'm pissed hasbro didn't release botcon skybyte at retail but oh well....Someday i'l get it.

    That's beautiful.

I'm terrible at writing haikus, but...

    Warrior or poet?
    Or simply a fish bouncing
    out of water?

I find RID extremly boring except for when the focus is on Sky-Byte, cuz he does rock.
Besides that the only thing going for the show is that one of the cooles transformers names comes from the show: Ruination.

    RUINATION AWAKENS!

    As the series ends,

    There is only one winner,

    The poet sky shark.

    Conversely...

But really, he has that perfect mix of competent and funny that makes for a really amusing and sympathetic character.

    A thread about me
    I am sincerely touched
    Thank you so much guys

In all seriousness, I am obviously a big Sky-Byte fan. I didn't care for RiD too much, minus a few things here and there, but the shark really made that show enjoyable for me. One of the best Transformers characters of all time, when silly TF characters don't go over too well (Wheelie, Bayformer twins, etc).

I still remember Prime's line to him, "Didn't I tell you to stick with limericks?"

RiD was awful, the only moments of that series I enjoyed were the ones that prominently featured sky-byte.

Yeah Sky-Byte is definitely the best character in R.I.D. which is definitely a better show than the Unicron trilogy but not as good as G1, the beast era, or Animated lol.

And I actually just finished re-watching R.I.D. a couple days ago for the first time in years, it really is a good show.

Sky-Byte was what you got if you took a large portion of Waspinator (not so much the "blown up every episode" part - more the "totally unappreciated and gets way more abuse than deserved" part.) and crossed it with the plucky understudy for a Shakespeare road company.

"Oh look, a delicious cake in the subway!"

Sky-Byte really is the "greatest shark around".
Even before the show came out, I found his back-o'-box profile intriguing. He is the intelligent, albeit foolish sub-commander of a group of misfits (Dark Scream, Gas Skunk, and Slapper) that I wouldn't wish on any Decepticon/Predacon, and yet he still manages to come out smelling like a rose.
In spite of all this, he has the weird quality of having humans actually like/warm up to him, in spite of all the terroristic acts he performed even while they were befriending him.

Even if you ignore the anime-ness of the show, you've still got a menacing Predacon officer whose appreciation of Earth culture (well, poetry and haiku) give his enemies the misplaced opinion that he's not such a bad guy.

This is why I christened my Energon Sharkticon "Sky-Byte" (months prior to BotCon 2010; I colored a .PDF-ed instruction book illustration as Sky-Byte back in '06.). I liken it as a pre-Earth mode for our favorite techno-organic shark.
