I was going to make this a poll, but there are too many variables.

Basically, what combination of powers/costume/origin do you like best for the Web Head? This only refers to versions of Peter Parker specifically. The costumes and powers of other people who've moonlighted as "Spider-Man" don't count. ("Scarlet Spider", "Spiderman 2099", etc...)


Costume:

"Classic" Red and Blue - The default spidey attire.

"Symbiote" Black and White - The black costume introduced in the Secret Wars (whether it be a living alien, or cloth).

"Iron Spider" Red and Gold - Built for Peter by Tony Stark. Filled with gadgets and tech.

"Bombastic Bag Man" - A Fantastic 4 jumpsuit with a paper bag for a mask.

"Spider-Man Noir" - Worn by a 1930's version of Peter. A black leather ski mask with white goggles, black leather gloves, and a leather vest.

"Spider-Man Unlimited" - A high-tech costume composed of nanobots. Made for Peter by Reed Richard of the Fantastic 4, Spider-Man wore this costume in the short lived "Spider-Man: Unlimited" cartoon and comic series.

"Cosmic" Spider-Man - Peter Parker when wielding the "Uni-Power".

"Spider Armor" - A metallic silver, armored version of the Red and Blue suit.

Other - Anything not listed.


Webs:

"Classic" - Mechanical webshooters and fluid filled cartridges.

"Organic" - Spinnerets in forearms.


Powers:

"Classic" - Proportionate strength, speed, and agility of a Spider. Ability to cling to solid surfaces with hands and feet. A "Spider-Sense"/Limited precognition.

"Enhanced" (after the events of "The Other") - More potent versions of the classic abilities. The ability to cling to solid surfaces with any part of his body. Night vision. Ability to sense minute vibrations through air currents and weblines. Enhanced version of the "Spider-Sense". Retractable stingers, fangs, and claws that appear when facing "Mystical" villains. Etc...


Origins:

"Classic" - Bitten by a spider dosed with lethal amounts of radiation, leading to mutation.

"Updated" - Bitten by a genetically engineered spider carrying a powerful retrovirus, leading to mutation.

"Mystical" - The spider that bit Peter was supernatural in nature, and connected to a "Spider-Totem". It was actually on it's way to specifically bite Peter and transfer it's powers when it was hit with the radiation. Spider-Man is, in reality, merely the latest in an ancient line of Spider-Powered "chosen ones".


For me:

I like Spidey's classic red and blue suit, organic webs, and the "Spider-Totem" origin.

 

"Spectacular."


Damn them for canceling that show.

 

Costume - Honestly, my favorite was the slightly tweaked Spider-Man outfit that Ben Reilly used. Wish that had stuck around even after Peter took back the role.

Webs - Organic, largely because I always hated the "whoops, I've once again run out of a web fluid at exactly the wrong time" plot device with the mechanical webshooters. Granted, organic webshooters doesn't entirely stop that from being used, but running out of web or having the devices break at a conveniently inconvenient time seems more likely with the mechanical ones.

Powers - Classic, but maybe work in that "cling with any body part" power.

Origin - Updated. The first origin needs to be tweaked a little to reflect more modern science concepts, but I'm not keen on "magical" characters, so I don't like the "Totem" origin much.

not being retconned every two months.
The series was fine before some idiot in editing(Joey Q) decided spidey needed major retcons- to reveal his identity, have his dead ex girl friend raped by norman, to not be married, to make Mary Jane a bitch, and so on.
Because being married makes Spiderman seem old and a deal with the devil is better than a divorce. Not that we didn't already have 3 other younger versions of spiderman in Ultimate, Marvel Adventures, and even Spiderman loves Mary Jane. No we need to screw with the core book because the readers of the comic the majority of which in in their 20's or older can't relate to a married spiderman(at least according to Joey Q), even though he'd already been married for over 20 years. They are even canceling Spidergirl, soon all traces Spiderman was ever married will be erased and Joey Q will be happy.
They have an X-men Forever, Xfactor Forever, new mutants forever, why can't we have a Spider-man forever where Joey Q was never editor? I might read more than 3 marvel titles a month.

Costume: Iron Spider. Iron Man is my favorite Marvel character, so of course this is my favorite costume.

Webs: Organic. Works better for me, since I never liked the web-fluid deal.

Powers: I have grown used to the updated powers.

Origin: Updated. Don't know why I like it better, but I do.

 

Costume: Symbiote

Webs: Organic

Powers: I guess I'd have to go with Classic. Most of his "enhanced" powers just didn't make sense.

Origins: Either Classic or Updated.

Interesting that so few like the Mystical twist to the origin, especially given that it's still technically canon.

"OMD/BND/OMIT" wiped out the enhanced powers (somehow), but apparently "The Other" still happened.

Really, as far as I'm concerned the only enhanced powers I miss are ones that further connected him to spiders. The organic webs and that "sensing vibrations through his web lines" thing, given that those are things spiders actually do. He's Spider-Man, not just "Clings to Walls-Man". You know what I mean?

I like that one too. I didn't include it though cause Peter never wore it, only Ben Reilly. (And technically May Parker/Spider-Girl...)

 

I really like the Black and White costume. But I am also very fond of the Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider costume as well.

 

Unless I missed something, I don't believe I've seen anyone mention "Ultimate".

I prefer Ultimate Spiderman and anything associated with Ultimate Spiderman including the Ultimate version of the Symbiote costume. I prefer my Spidey to be a high school kid struggling with the awkwardness of being a teenager. His villain's also just seemed cooler in the Ultimate series.

Just my take.

 

Classic costume.

I don't mind organic but I lean just a tad to mechanical webshooters (so long as they don't abuse the "ran-out-of-webbing" thing).

Classic powers (though I don't really know too much about his enhanced abilities so I can't comment on that).

And updated origin, the whole genetically engineered spider thing, because radiation just plain doesn't work that way.
