Is this by any chance related to the Auto Assembly kit? I had that at one point and am kicking myself daily for selling it.

Indeed. I was fortunate enough to win a fully completed figure on eBay a while back who just happened to have been sold by El Duque.

 

Just finished up my TW conehead trio today, and MT Downbeat (Jazz) is currently in transit. BC Grump (Gears) and FT Grinder (Grimlock) will hopefully arrive soon after Chinese New Year. FT Phoenix and Terminus Giganticus (Skyfire and Omega Supreme respectively) will hopefully arrive before the end of 2017, and that will be the last of my pre-orders. Waiting patiently for BC to redo their Huff (Huffer) and for anyone whose work I enjoy to tackle Skids. Titans Return Topspin looks adequate for my needs, and will hopefully be soon followed by Twintwist. A nice Runabout/Runamuck duo from someone and a Shattered Glass repaint of MMC/OM Jaguar (Ravage) for my girlfriend could pretty much round me out, honestly. Time then to cash in my chips.

Except I won't. Still waiting on the right Cyclonus. And Springer. Seriously considering FT Hoodlum (Hot Rod) and Koot (Kup), and very likely will upgrade my original seekers (Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp) with the next upcoming TW trio. I am also curious about X-Transbot's Toro (Cliffjumper) even though I am perfectly fine with the ACE offering and don't really need it. Probably going to pick up PF Cesium (Slag) after CNY in order to replace FT-04X Scoria so that the gang will all match. And I will most likely pick up the remaining GP dinos since I already have Guttur and Grassor...but y'know, I can quit whenever I want.  

Oh, and I will definitely pick up MMC Commotus if ever re-released. Hate that I missed that one.

All that being said, I do feel that an end is in sight, just not as soon as I would prefer. I will always haunt the board, an will always be interested in what comes out. I am very intrigued by Toyworld's upcoming Bruticus but feel no need whatsoever to own it (note: I own and adore their Devastator). Don't get me wrong, all bets are off if I win the lottery (same as any of us, I'd wager). But I do feel some fatigue, and have other things I collect that I'd like to work on as well (the Sentinel Re:Edit Iron Man suits, for example; wonderful but painfully expensive figures). As my girlfriend always remarks after rolling her eyes when I say that I am nearly finished with this collection: "I cannot wait to see what your next expensive hobby will be."

 

Not sure. Gonna have to wait and see what comes out in the next few years.

 

My 198X/MP collection is just about done.

All that's left for me is an acceptable Arcee, Springer, Kup and Skyfire. FansToys has me covered for all except one and hopefully that'll change sooner than later.


My IDW/voyager+ collection though I am still interested in building up for awhile.

Many super interesting (and actual coherent/intelligent stories/backgrounds) to cover that I am very interested in and would love to see. Also many super cool female figures I'd love to see done.

 

I won't lie, this has popped up in the back of my mind before. Way way in the back of my mind, mind you.

Then I get something new in the mail and my love affair is rekindled all over again. I'm getting what I wanted in 80s and I can finally afford it. I'm still collecting CHUGs, there's a LOT of good coming down the line and I'm not going to pass on that. I'm collecting more and more MPs, now, something I never really did in the beginning. It helps when they're more toon accurate. That way I have the best of both worlds, I can have the stylized crazy looks of CHUG and the ridiculously slavish accuracy of MP to cover both ends.

I'll be 37 in a few months. Guess what I want for my birthday? Yep, Transformers. I've been at this since 1984 and I have a 4 month old son I hope to share this with (if he's not into it, that's okay, I just want him to be happy with whatever he does enjoy) and even if it's just me and he does his own thing, I'll still be happy. I do worry sometimes about the whole getting the updated version thing... Between Hasbro and 3rd parties, updates come along and just make it so difficult to keep up and we definitely want to keep up. When is enough enough, though? I don't need 7 versions of the same Optimus.

That said I have no plans to quit now or for the foreseeable future. I'm an adult and I have serious responsibilities, I have a lovely wife and son (the other kids are okay at times, step children...) and while this might be a childish pursuit, it's MY childish pursuit. It's mine to enjoy and love for just me.

I thought it would be about "What will I do if I have nothing to buy?" and thought that was fueling my collecting passion. No, I was wrong. I can always find something to buy, but there's one and only thing that truly matters when spending my blow money and that's Transformers.

I could be done by the end of 2017! I limited myself to 84, and favourites from 85 & 86. I don't have much left to get...

It makes me sad to see those folks happy to be nearing the end of their collection. I reckon I have anywhere from half a dozen to a dozen left in MP (as I have no interest on headmasters) but have only just started an IDW collection through MMC and have also started collecting special/high grade representations of Optimus and Megs. Then there's the BW MP's. I have no desire to "finish" my collection.
But then I also build and paint model starships and robots, customise action figures and have just started building lightsabers, to say nothing of gaming, gardening and a host of other hobbies. TF collecting is only one of the many things I devote time and money to, so I'm unlikely to tire of it anytime soon.
Variety truly is the spice of life, liberally mixed with hefty doses of melange of course.

 

Two more for my MP. Susanoo and I haven't decided on my Blitzwing yet and I'm done. I will buy chugs for a bit but I am done with mp after Blitzwing

Lol done with collecting when transformers stops making toys. I gave up on silly dreams like that. No shame. I unlike a number of collectors, enjoy my collection and hobby. So many seem to talk about it like it's a crappy day's work. Lol hey, hook me up with your pain. I can take it
