@Slingshot had it right. I think I know two diehard fans in RL. Maybe three.

One of the major failings of our fandom is the overinflated sense of worth, both financially and popularity wise.

Big enough that people outside the fandom have some passing familiarity with it,
but not nearly as big as some people within the fandom want it to be.

I hate to say it but you’re right

I don’t even think Transformers ranks in the top ten of popular fandoms

Let’s not forget Lord of the rings....Star Trek

And I know, Star Trek has known better times as a fandom but its fan base is large and strong

Where do you guys think Godzilla ranks in there?

    Well based on this
    1.star wars
    2.marvel
    3.dc
    4.harry potter
    5.lord of the rings
    6.transformers
Those others dont really have a fanbase and I meant only sci fi franchises that have movies, comics, games and stuff and I put spiderman and batman under marvel and dc

The TV show is over, so how are they making any money as a franchise?

    Residuals
And they’re still marketing by useing the popularity of the characters and doing shows is my guess

Is going by money the best way to view this?

Fairly big nowadays but also fairly quiet at times.

That is quite possibly the greatest quote about these toys I’ve ever heard
I feel like Transformers’s well-known status as a cinema behemoth (up until The Last Knight) may be altering the results, as much of the audience is just casual viewers, especially in China, where Transformers have made tons of money (Side note: are Transformers big in China? I know the movies are, but are there many more serious fans of the brand there? I guess the upcoming Nezha show could give some insight). The other money from merchandise sales also could be attributed to more casual purchases, i.e. “little Jimmy from across the street is gonna want something for his birthday; maybe he’d like one of those fun robot toys.” But I suppose if that’s the case, the same could be said for some other toy-heavy installments on that list like Marvel and DC.
    Sooo...
I take it we’re all jumping ship to Seinfeldworld1989.com?
