Not sure how many of you do this but here goes.

Comics are a variety, plain and simple. Some people collect modern, some older, some only certain characters, etc. So anyone out there. Are you trying to collect something specific and how is it going?

For me, iam trying to get every Iron man comic published. I have all the annuals except #2 and 130 other issues. I plan on getting more soon, just haven't gotten any lately as I was working on the Iron Man figure collection.

I'm thinking about trying to get the complete run of Green Lantern. I've got volume 3 and the current volume, plus a few key issues from volume 2 (first appearances of Guy Gardner and John Stewart, the arc where Guy becomes a GL). I'm just not sure I want to to through the pain of trying to track down the entirety of volume 2.

Besides, I recently completed getting a nearly complete collection of Justice League (the mid-90s franchise era was a huge pain in the ass. Do you have any idea how hard it is to track down Extreme Justice?), and I've only gotten through a little over 50 issues so far.

Not so much. I just like focusing on the stuff I like to read. I have full collections of things from the past, but nothing I'm actively seeking right now.

I'm more a reader than a collector. But I do collect them, because I love to go back and re-read them at later points.

Unfortunately I have accumulated something like 20-30 cubic feet of comics, and am really beginning to wonder what the hell to do with them all. I have maybe 140 issues of Uncanny X-men, and probably 80 issues of X-men (91 series). I'd like to complete a run of Uncanny from ish 100 on someday as I have all the hardest to get issues from that point.

I would also like to get ahold of all the 70's deathlok stuff at some point, he was always a favorite of mine when I was a kid.

I was working on my Transformers comic collection I was pretty good with just about every DW variant and regular issues. IDW came along and just made too many covers for me to want to collect.

At one point, I was working on getting a complete 100-current run of ASM, with the Masterworks (silver) hardcovers to flesh out 1-100. But, I sorta petered (haha) out at some point. Still need maybe 50 issues and uh..any Masterworks past #3. :redface2:  Last I looked they were on #6.

Other than that, I also had a good DW TF run going. Managed to keep up with all the incentive/variant/exclusive covers, thanks in no small part to my local comic shop who always reserved them for me and gave me a discount. But I ain't doing that shit for IDW. One, there's just too many of the damn things even comapred to DW. Two, I reallyreally liked the DW comics, so getting all the covers was kinda fun. Doing so for a comic that I merely find tolerable wouldn't be.

I have too many bleedin' comics as it is and probably need to scale back some. The reason I even got back IN in the first place was b/c of TFs. I cobbled together a complete G1/G2 run in the late 90s. I got a good deal on a complete McF ASM run, which I nabbed for nostalgia reasons. That led to bargain hunting for more Spider-man schtuff at shows. That and news of the new TF and Joe comics led me back into the comic shop in mid-'01, just in time to stumble across the early issues of JMS' Amazing and something called Ultimate Spider-Man, among others.

Not even 5 years later now and I have I believe 3 long boxes and 20 short (since after buying 3 long ones realized that they're really obnoxious to store/move), so 2500+ or so. :sly2:

Oh yeah..after TFs, but just before and at the beginning of the Spider-Man craze, I went after the Marvel GIJoe comics. By the time the new series started in '01, I had a full run, minus 3-4 issues that I'm still pussyfooting around in getting.

I'm a reader first and foremost. If I happen to have "full collections" of stuff, it's by pure coincidence.

My collection is all TPBs. I prefer all (or atleast most) of a story being in one complete book. Ive got tons of Bat-books and a few others like the JLA volumes, Kingdom Come, and some Elseworlds stories.

I have a friend from church years ago who's as into Ironman as you. He had most of issues from the 80s to 90s but I doubt he has as many issues as you. Right now my only comics are Ultimates and IDW Beast Wars. I may get into Deadpool soon (see my new topic on it) but that's about it.

I'm missing only a handful of issues between #46 and #181 of Vol 3 of Green Lantern... tracking down the missing issues has been a pain. After I finish up getting all those in that run, I'll work on the earlier issues of Vol 3... then it's on to Vol 2 for me, which will be significantly harder. I might be moving to the mainland soon, so when I get over there, I'll have a little more opportunity to finish my collection as it will be easier to hit more comic shops as well as any conventions that might happen. Van Isle is scarce for comic shops (I think there's maybe 6 on the island and 4 of them are in Victoria).

The other one I'd like to complete is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vol 1 from Mirage. That would be awesome to get. They're VERY hard to find, but fortunately quite cheap when you come across them.

Speaking of Extreme Justice... I do have a signed #0 of it (the first issue as it debuted after Zero Hour). Won it at a Customer Appreciation night at my old comic shop.

Likewise. Looking across at the bookshelf, this applies to Ellis-written Stormwatch/Authority, LoEG and US G2. It'll happen with Planetary when the rest of the trades appear.

I dunno. I wasn't buying them anymore when 100+ was current, but got 'em in the late '90s. I kind of liked that they actually killed Joes off, something that would never happen in the 'toon.
Which, speaking of, was far, far inferior to the early years of the comic. As fun as the MASS Device and Revenge of Cobra 5-parters were, the comic storyline was the shit when I was a kid. I was a fan of the more detailed and cohesively ongoing story in both the Joe and TF comics, but Joe even more so than TFs.

I'm maintaining my Batman run. 398-650 plus a dozen or so of various pre-398 issues.
