I have been taking some time off and working on my new hobbies. But with COVID shut-in, I found some time to tinker with this very interesting project. It is finally taking shape and I promise I will finish it! Update 5/15: Prints came in and looking good! I am very close to releasing them. Stay tuned! Update 6/5: Final prints are here! Very happy when them and all parts are released on shapeways. I did find the PA12 plastic (HP Multijet) having superior surface quality compared to SLS versatile plastic, however dimension wise it is less accurate. I have 5mm pegs all coming out as 4.7 and end up with super loose. The trio super tetra jets: Ramjet: Dirge Thrust Triple Menace!
Please complete this because I wanna have all my seekers using this mold and I will buy so many of these lmao
I was hoping we'd get cone versions of these guys. Good to see you back in action, always a fan of your work.
If you are making some coneheads for the Siege Seeker mold, any chance to get a classic G1 cartoon head for Starscream? I hate how the Siege Seeker is the Armada style head. I've tried the Earthrise head and it won't fit.
Oooh interesting. I’m guessing that maybe the wings will flip around so they can show on the other side. Or maybe even the thruster on Thrust will go through the wing? I love your stuff very keen to see.
To give everyone an idea where I am going. This is dirge. The last print has some measurement issues, this is a very tough geometry to reproduce without 3-D scanning (which is cheating imo hah). This one should be close enough, I hope. Shapeways now has a very long print cycle so I need to wait another two weeks to see how it comes out. I am drawing design inspirations HEAVILY from Chris Vera's art work, you should all check it out he is awesome. >> https://www.artstation.com/artwork/v1341O <<
Technically this is unrelated but I just got my giant Shapeways order the other day, and I was going through the parts and order information to prep for my video review, turns out every part I picked was designed by you, like 8 various upgrades for different models, just thought I'd throw that out there.
Some additional progress. Still waiting for shapeways print so I am doing the detail etch lines and the pivot/slide mechanisms. Thrust's wing won't slide downward and the lift fan is detachable and can be plugged in on either side of the wing just like the classics toy.
