How a dodgy phone killed family's dog | News.com.au And I thought of getting HTC..... Also, how irresponsible can the carrier get?
To be honest, I don't blame Vodafone for this one. I mean, there is always a chance of a phone cutting out. The freezing of the phone was unfortunate, but I wouldn't chalk that up to the network so much as a glitch in the programming/software of the phone itself. I've use two HTC phones (Desire Z and Legend) and it wasn't unheard of for one to cut out and freeze. The fact the dog died was rather unlucky and distasteful, but I don't see how Vodafone can really be blamed for it. The phone didn't electrocute the dog or something, the two events are separate. Just unfortunate, that's about it. Now, was the car damaged? Because I'd like to see who they blame for that repair bill.
Ummmmmmm Dumbass, get off the goddamned phone and take care of YOUR dog. She should be the one to get hit by the car
What? This isn't the phone companys fault. It is a huuuuge stretch to place the dogs death at the hands of a cell provider because the phone went out. It's their responsibility to restrain their dog, not the phone companys.
So...adding insult to injury. Good job Vodaphone! "No. But we will do this... We'll give a phone that DOES work with our system like we should've from the get go. We will also give you a phone that's currently okay, but nothing fantastic. On top of that, we'll cut your bill in half. We don't want to help you, but if nothing else we want to keep you stuck with us. Mmmkay? Thanks."
Sensational headline is sensational for sensational sakes. Seems more like an irresponsible owner's inattentiveness killed a dog.
Was she in the middle of nowhere? No one around to borrow another phone from? No payphone nearby? That's why keeping corded phones is a must. We rely on wireless this and wireless that too much sometimes. ...like a leash for the dog. Yes. Poor dog.
Couldn't she have...I dunno...called back? Isn't that what one does when important information has not yet been conveyed on a dropped call? And if you know the dog digs under the fence, I'm sure at some point you saw the person caring for the dog in person. It's the phone company's fault for issuing a crappy phone, but the dog owner's fault that she KNEW she had a crappy phone and did nothing about it AND did not ensure her information was conveyed. I'm off to sue the Internet for making me feel more stupid today.
Is it common for HTC to freeze? I have a HTC Desire and it freezes often while I phone. Or it reboots. At first it was not so much, but now after 2 years it becomes more frequent. I think I'm gonna send it back to get it repaired, because in april the 2 years are over and than it would cost money.
I feel sorry for the woman losing a close family pet (I've had a few close pets in my time, and tears have been shed), but holy shit, lady, cry us a river. Let's get the WAAAmbulance over here, STAT. Here I was thinking someone's new iPhone or Android exploded next to the dog, or it emitted some kinda chemical that killed the dog. THEN I'd blame the phone company for making a faulty device. But the dog brought it upon itself - the dog got loose, and the dog got into the road. Dog in the road...CAR in the road. One of 'em doesn't belong. If the dog broke out (well, DUG out) and wanders onto the road where a car is...well, we all know who gets the next Darwin Award. Sure, had the phone worked, maybe someone would've made sure the dog didn't get out. But shit happens. Technology trips up once in a while. No piece of technology has EVER been perfect. And phones cut out all the time. This one just happened to trip at a really inconvenient moment.
Not in my experience, I've got an Evo 3D and a Sensation and they have never frozen. Pretty much this.
Blaming the phone company for that is pathetic. She could just have easily been cut off calling to remind the daughter to let the dog out in the first place, thereby saving its life. It works both ways. It doesn't say that she tried to fix the phone BEFORE this happened, sounds like she just dealt with it. Does she expect the company to read her mind? It's called bad luck, lady. There are about fifty other things to blame before the phone. Blame the car, blame your crappy fence, blame your schedule for not being home, blame blame blame blame. Oh, you want to blame the thing that you think will PAY CASH MONEY, I see.
Psh, this is why I don't use the Dogleash app. =/ Malfuctions all the time, this wouldn't happen on an iiiiiipppphoooooonnneee.
Why did this even make headlines? We are a bunch of over-privileged whiny babies. The toilet clogged up, it isn't my fault it's the toilet paper company for making their TP too thick. Call the newstation!!!!
