Don't even get a trailer for this outrageous price. Is this the most expensive Hot Wheel ever made?

Looks like a Mattel Creations exclusive, not sure it'll ever really get much of a deep discount

I remember in the early announcements for the Transformers 40th Ann., Hasbro announced openly that they were going to share the \'G1 design blueprints\' or such with various companies and licences. Here is one perfect example..

So you want me to pay Commander price for a 3in G1 Prime? Sign me off, this at all isn't worth that tag for how much you get. I'd rather put that money to getting Tigerhawk or Magmatron.

I'm now convinced someone just put an extra 0 by accident and this thing'e actually like $8. Cause that is what a reasonable person would pay for this.

Fans: "We want die-cast in our Transformers again!"

Also fans: "Sorry, what we meant was, we want die-cast at 1980s prices."

I suppose the $80 price is justified by the fact that (1) this figure is made up of several jointed pieces, which Hot Wheels normally don't have, and (2) the licensing fees Hasbro is tacking on.

The fancy box is a nice enough addition, but IMO, this is a gift item and display piece for Hot Wheels collectors more than for Transformers collectors. Shiny metal paint plus die-cast everywhere equals lots of paint chipping if you transform this frequently.

It's pretty, but it's not for me.

Definitely more armed to the HW crowd for sure. If the Corroded Cars art cars on Mattel Creations prove them it'll sell out even if it takes a bit longer than sought after car models. I'm a HW fan too and the novelty of this is alluring and I'm absolutely picking one up.

For a second, I thought this could be cool, giving me Smallest Transforming Transformers vibes. But sheesh, $80 and no trailer? No thank you. Sorry for other people who have to pay that much.

Guys, my initial disappointment here is somewhat alleviated by the fact that this may be mainly for Hot wheels Collectors. I want Mattel to be successful, and initially scared they were competing directly against Missing Link, but Mattel has some really devout collectors that may be the main Target for this.

Price shock on this thing is relatable, but remember that also Mattel did these: Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham Eroded Porsche Safari | Mattel Creations

This is like the 4th Daniel Arsham Eroded car and at 70 bucks they all sold out. 80 for a Metal/Metal and Real Riders transforming Hot Wheels toy that's G1 Optimus Prime is much more worth the price if you ask me.

That being said...the upcoming Arsham Eroded is a rally Porsche and I love me some rally cars...

    The pricing is insulting.

I\'m shocked Hasbro let them make a transforming version. Hasn\'t that been against the typical licensing conditions?

At $80 I\'m not so sure I need this, despite how I love diecast cars.

I like it and the package presentation is really nice. With the chrome, die-cast, extra parts count for a HW car, and license fees, the price might be justified but realistically, it's just not in the cards for me. Especially with just dropping $90 for Magmatron.

At that scale, with the inflexible stiffness of die-cast, the inner shoulder joint transformation is going to be... risky. I don't know which would be worse, if it were a tiny die-cast stalk connecting torso to shoulder, or plastic embedded in die-cast at both ends.

Let us not forget too that a Super T hunt sells for insane prices as well.
