i can't decide feel a bit like sheldon cooper with his ps4 or xbox one dilemma :lol

just started collecting hot toys got 1/6 boba fett which honestly feels in hand not worth the price tag but on display it looks incredible! i have hot toys yoda on pre order which is the cause of all this :lol  also now have chewy and old han set on pre order love the harrison ford face sculpt i think it looks epic .... hopefully pre ordering the new hot toys r2d2 soon and going to see if i can blag my mum and sister into buying me c-3po for my birthday in april :lol  ... only going so far with this though only so many characters i want and only going to buy one version of each :)  can't do this and transformers masterpiece and collect records at the same time really eh? :lol

but back to vader which one would you choose? the one thing i hate about sideshows is the lightsaber but have seen someone selling a hot toys one so could always buy the better lightsaber to replace the stock one , have heard there's some shoddy paint work on the hot toys

    help!!!

or do i wait for hot toys to do a return of the jedi vader? i'm waiting on a hot toys return of the jedi skywalker as the face sculpts with hot toys seem to be getting better , also waiting on them doing a leia in her bounty hunter costum

I don't own any HT Star Wars figures but I like the look of the upcoming ROTJ Vader more than the other 2 you mentioned. Hardly an academic opinion though.

If you feel underwhelmed with Fett be prepared to feel the same with the rest. The 1/6 market has gone astronomical with the prices in the last 5 years.

Sure the figures are nice but they are not worth the money. Do not drink the Kool-Aid. Only get characters you must have and even then, be selective. Hot Toys are not made for longevity, prepare for fading paint, yellowing fabrics, melting rubber, flaking pleather, broken pieces and a whole lot of heartbreak :lol

The Hot Toys Rogue One Vader is currently the best on the market, but it should be since it will probably set you back at least $300. Personally I was more impressed with the $20 Vader I got from the Disney store.

didn't know about the other version just watched vids looks much better i might have to pick it up but shit cost £100 more than the others :lol  ....my boba fett went straight into an airtight pespex display box and where i will be displaying them there wont be very bright light and away from natural light but light enough to see them.. none of them will be coming out of the retail boxes until i have airtight display boxes to put them in .... think a lot of the problem is having them in a detolf's and air oxidation getting to them along with being under led lights which i think for the hot toys figures it helps with the discolouration

Currently, the best two Vaders for me are the HT Rogue One Vader and the Sideshow ROTJ version though.

Both have thicker bodies than their previous versions. Of course the Sideshow Vader is still bigger and taller than the HT version.

Its a tough call for me too.

i am now over £1000 into this and plan on spending about another £1200 or more in the next few days decided to get the new hope luke in the end and obi wun this week ... will probably sell luke on if they do a better return ofthe jefi version

gone from an average transformers masterpiece collector to shit what have i done over night :lol  and i'm still blaming their incoming yoda for all this if i had not pre ordered it ( and i just could not :lol  ) none of this would of started .... as my original post i'm only going to go so far with it ...but ffs 5 figures have cost me over a grand and going to be buying another 5 this week :lol  have sold a few things tho :)

I get what you mean...few years ago I suddenly got into the 1/12 figure craze too...the 12 inch thread was started my me(if I remembered correctly) but I was eventually let down by the various QC issues. I really recommend that you heed Batman's advce's which I quoted below.

With regards to which Vader to choose...I passed up on the Hot Toys ANH Vader because tbh I'm scared of the QC issues that HT have - especially the quality of the rubber and went with their Sideshow Vader (previous version) because it was made of vinyl (if I remembered correctly). So I suggest that you do abit of research to find out what each figure is made up of?

For HT ANH Luke...I have the figure and the likeness is abit 'off'...I would suggest getting the Bespin Luke instead as the likeness is better. IMO I feel that HT didn't get the likeness spot on for ANH Han and Chewie. They just bear a passing resemblance to their movie counterparts.

I'm extremely selectively with my 1/6 purchases nowadays and I'm just waiting for HT ROTJ Luke and ESB/ROTJ Vader before wrapping up my 1/6 collection. Oh yeah, I pre-ordered Yoda too! :)

LOL! Yeah, I get what you mean dude. The quality isn't there for HT anymore. Actually, I realize that quality for most toys don't cut it anymore - from TFs to the Star Wars action figures by Hasbro.

had a good look again at luke and think i will skip a new hope and the one you mentioned as well although looks much better...still getting a new hop obi wun .... a new hope chewy and han just don't look right to me hans face is well off

i'm still on the fence with vader which is now that sideshow one or ht rogue one , i can't even entertain the idea of buying the new hope version now looks bad compared to the others, have watched vid reviews of the other 2 over and over and the stormtroopers which are actually doing my head in as well don't know if i like a new hope or rogue one better :lol  i will only be buying 2 to go with vader and a sandtrooper.... and then there's the cheaper bandai 1/6 scale kits that look amazing for the price and i am only just buying the storm troopers to stand either side behind vader apart from the sand trooper which will be in its own display box mighjt opt for the 2 pack ht sandtrooper rogue one set but thats only a "might"

i have jumped in the deep end but after i buy obi wun , a vader and a few stormtroopers its only going to be a few i want , leia in the bounty hunter outfit if they don't make one then i won't own a leia unlesss sideshow smash one out of the park , return of the jedi luke which is just a matter of time and again depends on what side show come up with as well , ig-88 assasin droid and bossk or are there good 1/6 scale versions of those 2 bounty hunters already ... thats literally all i'm interested in always been a starwars fan but i'm not a die hard fan ... what i just spent contradicts that but...erm ... well :lol

and fully aware of problems which is why they are being kept somewhere with low light and in their own individual display boxes

edit" and not forgetting the main man himself the emperor !!! how could i forhet the dark lord

i fully agree this is all over priced and i am crazy for spending what i'm spending but what i have bought i see as a piece of art work for display ..... looking at my ht boba fett as i type this and it looks really amazing and more expensive than it feels in hand , you can see someone has put a lot of love and time into designing it .... btw not speaking literal as in a van gogh piece of art :lol

I sold my ROTJ SS Vader to purchase the R1 Vader. The SS version is nice with all the extras, it is slightly taller, and the suit is a bit 'puffier'.

I don't have a side by side because as soon as my waitlist converted the SS went up on ebay. I personally prefer the R1 version because the features and sculpting is much crisper. But I enjoyed my SS version while I had it. And I was happy to pass on the ANH version.

Yeah the likeness on ANH Luke, Han an Chewie are 'off' but IMO Obi Wan is passable.

My advice to you is get the 'best versions' in terms of likeness for each character and don't back track. For example, as much as I prefer ANH Han's attire, I'm holding out for the ESB version because of the likeness issue. 12 inch collecting can get very expensive very quickly.

Both are good and have their Pluses and Minuses. The Sideshow Vader either version are among the best they have made. I wasn't disappointed like other sideshow figures. They have done well on Storm Troopers and Vader. Really most of their armored figures are good. They are very Tall as well. Which makes sense as Prowse is very tall. Hot toys is good with slight better sculpts in places, but like others have said, sometimes you fear they may lose parts if they fall of a shelf.

Either way you would probably be satisfied with either version.

i think have made my mind up and going for sideshow rotj and buy the hottoys lightsaber i have in my ebay watch list ... unless there's a third party option for the light saber? thats the one thing i don't like about side shows ...... the stormtroopers i'm still on the fence with which yo pick up

back tracking on my last post about the bossk pre order its a 2.0 version with a better head sculpt i bet thats pissed alot of collectors off as the last one sideshow sold was limited edition to only 3000 pieces

damn the hot toys light saber has been bought .... bet it was someone reading this thread :lol

anyway found a cheapish rotj on amazon and waiting on forbiddon planet international getting back to me about their restock and when they expect it which is probably what i will be going for , either way paying for one later today :)  the extra head has swung it for me and the lower price .... stormtroopers still on the fence

obi wan and any of the others have gone out the window since i found out all the sideshow bounty hunters are up for pre order so going to focus on them which there's plenty of time not all out till the end of the year ... closest are bossk with a new head sculpt and IG-88 with a new deco... may and june i think

could so easily spend a fortune on this line but after the initial i want them all i have realed myself in and got focus on what i want , have taken notice of the advice given cheers :)

obi wun and a few others can be chrimbo and birthday presents from family:lol

sideshow C-3PO should be here today too :D
