Do you guys think his vintage car form will give us a nod to the original hot rod robot mode in G1, kinda like what they did with prime in aoe making him a flat nosed cab?

Not possible given his G1 car mode is vastly different to his "vintage" mode.

A Citroen DS. The only robot mode that it can give us a walking pile of crap.

Yeah, we've already seen concept art of him. While the final version could end up different, what we've been shown just looks like a black Bumblebee with a weird head.

I think you are misunderstanding what the OP is asking. In this movie, Hot Rod will have 2 car mods. A classic Citroen DS and the Lambo. What the OP is asking is if we think that while Hot Rod is in the Citroen DS car mod, if he might look more like his classic G1 look with the back wings and what not. Kind of a nod nod to G1 like they did with Optimus in AOE with his G1 flat nose look.

That would be kind of a cool surprise, unexpected due to the vehicle mode too. Now if only Judd Nelson voices one of the modes? ;)

I highly doubt it, since the Citroen DS is a black boxy car that looks nothing like Hot Rod's G1 Cybertronian car alt-mode. . .

    IKR?

I was like nice, Bay, they got Judd Nelson in TF Animated, but nope, gotta have Hot Rod with a French accent. xD

Yeah but since when has a vehicle mode meant anything on what they look like when they transform? Look at OP now lol. He transforms and oh look where did all his vehicle parts go? Look at Bee in AOE, he had 2 different looks. His classic camaro and a more DOTM robot look with the door wings and wheels on his back. But as soon as he upgraded, the door wings were gone and he had a more streamlined look.

Just because Hotrods vintage car mode looks nothing like his G1 car mode, means nothing IMO. The guys doing the CGI can easily give Hot Rod more of his classic G1 look as a nod to the 86 movie when he's in the classic car mode and a totally different look when he's in his Lambo mode.

tony is right, there are tons of g1 elements he could have that have nothing to do with his vehicle mode ...

for example : the smoke stacks, the flames with the autobot logo, just to name some ...

he could even have something in his back resembling his iconic split spoiler !!!

I know that. I was speaking specifically about the alt-mode only.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Citroën robot mode is just like the Lambo robot mode, just with different kibble, like Bumblebee had in TF2007' the twins had in ROTF and how Evasion Optimus looked compared to the first trilogy Optimus.

Remember, Optimus and Bumblebee only had completely different designs in AOE simply to refresh their looks after three movies. Though it seems they've back tracked on the update to Bumblebee.

Horribly dissapointed with his look, sadly. It's like they didn't even try to make him look anything like originally. I get they can't use the same makes and models for today's movies, (A red car with yellow flames on the hood today would stick out like a sore thumb-kinda the opposite to what they're going for), but couldn't they have at least made him red? I have trouble with the whole "giving them the accent of whatever country makes their car model" as well. It just seems pointless (to me, anyway).

That sort of makes me think of something else, though. If they're trying to keep a low profile, why are they picking top of the line cars in the first place? I mean, I dunno about you, but half of those cars would make me stop and stare as they passed, kinda the opposite of "low profile". XD
