That would've been a cool scene to see fully animated. Only, you know, without the robot deaths.

    Finally got one of these.

I think I've worked out the rough transformation for when this still was going to have a trailer to be tucked into; only the sections with the engine and the windshield would need to be particularly different than what it ended up having (with the plug for the spoiler being right above the windshield):

I think I'll wait for Magic Square to do a legends scale Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime. For the most part their sculpts just look better.

I just ordered this. I think it looks pretty solid as a Rodimus Prime until I see what MFT or MS do

Bought this figure to be my Hot Rod in my S3 display with MFT Springer, Kup, Sharkticons and Corbot V Mugger (Alicon). When MFT brings out their Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime it will be displayed in Rodimus Prime mode, if it's true that the figure can be displayed in Hot Rod or Rodimus Prime mode, for the display.

Yesterday it arrived. While transforming the figure from robot to alt mode and back, which I do with all my new figures, the left leg broke at the knee joint. The knee joint on mine figure is very tight and I put to much pressure on it, the right knee joint needs less force. Has this happened to others or am I just unlucky?

Edit: at the moment he's leaning on Kup and the place where the left leg should be is hidden behind a Sharkticon in bot mode.

Mine snapped in the same place the first time I transformed it. The joint was way too tight but I put a bit too much trust in the plastic and forced it. I ended up taking the leg apart and gluing the joint. Luckily the lower leg covers the break so you can't see it, but he will never again be in car mode. That's okay though because between some iffy tolerances and all those over tight joints, he was not fun to transform anyway imho.

Just picked this guy up for $18 on ebay. I haven't been actively collecting for a few years, and man the legends thing has really taken off. I have a couple of the early DX9 legends figures but these new legends toys are really more like mini-masterpieces.

This Hot Rod is really impressive - looks great in both forms, and I thought the tranformation was interesting and kinda fun (I know that's very subjective).

Not sure how the scale on this works with other legends stuff, it's bigger than the older DX9 ones I have, but those might be an older scale.

Either way it's a very nice looking toy and I'm pretty impressed with how much detail it has for a small toy.

    Yeah that looks pretty dope!

Knees are a little knobby, lol, but everything else looks great.

Are these related companies? Or Flame Warrior vs Flame Commander are just natural Rodimus names?

    Aren't they the same size?

From the pictures posted I prefer the color of Papa Toys over the MFT one.

Not related companies. Rumor is the initial CAD file was compromised a while back and Papa toys jumped in on it and produced their Hot Rod.

The MFT is the same initial design now a couple years forward with some slight changes and the Rodimus trailer from the original plans in effect.

These two should be very nearly the same size. Papa’s is about 11cm or so. I believe MFT Rodimus is going to be 12-12.5cm.

I think the changes are more than a little. MFT has interesting leg design where the leg is grey but red in car mode...

I just mean the engineering is basically the same. Yes, there's been lots of changes as MFT has had the benefit of working on this for a long while now and have created something that looks to be real special.

Want to see some comparison pics... MFT Magnus 2.0 for one, MST Optimus for another. WIP Arcee and Kup as well. I am okay with Rodimus being pretty Tall, he IS the leader in Season 3. But honestly Hot Rod should be at least somewhat smaller...

No, Papa Toys Hot Rod is smaller than a Deluxe size. See the photo above, it has Hasbro Legends Wreck-Gar so you can see how he scales. Would be pretty undersized with Siege Deluxes. I can try to post a pic later if no one else does.

Hot Rod is a legends+ scale figure. Does not scale with deluxes. 20191022_205303.jpg
