I was of the school of thought that said he was too big. However, when I saw the comparison, I caved and ordered him.....

Ok. Since I already ordered him, its time to address his backpack. lol!

I have been contemplating how his backpack could have been designed better without greatly affecting the robot mode too much. For most MP HRs, the excess "luggage" that he has is usually the rear fenders of the car. The hood, the front fender & the spoiler, we basically know where it goes. Because PPT opted that his entire torso be rotated rather than his shoulders only, they dont have any room to store anything in the torso area. The only solution is to store it on his legs and sacrifice the aesthetics abit or add it to his backpack which is what we are having now.

Personally, I would like to see the excess rear fenders be stored at the back of his legs. We have already seen the other options. MP28 and FT Hoodlum is doing the "excess becomes his upper torso" transformation which usually results in weird proportions and gapiness.

 

Got mine in today, being me I started with a few quick fixes.

ha ha...5 o'clock shadow hot rodimus looks kind of cool.

 

Yeah that's MFt Galvatron (he may get some adjustments now too), the face is just grey paint lines. Don't want to carve incase an alternate face comes out later. I also painted darker red accents, and more orange on the abdomen.
I'm going to still be playing around and adding in more paint adjustments. Hope we get the trailer, as I keep saying, he makes a better Rodimus than a hot rod.

 

That face looks great! I was planning to do something similar. Though, I’d say use a much smaller Autobot faction decal.

 

I just ordered one. Couldn't resist at $23 shipped. With all these great smaller options, my '86 movie lineup is getting close to complete.
