As you may or may not know, I've had this kit available for a while now, but I just realized I never properly unveiled any of my self-printed stuff in here, where I should have unveiled it in the first place. Time to change that. I use a Printrbot if anyone is wondering. Yes, yet another GDO Springer upgrade. This one is different in that the wheels are designed to look like rotors, so helicopter mode gets upgraded and armed rather than compromised. The rear wheels are on struts that clip onto the black rails on his (used to be) feet, and fold up to put the wheels/fans on top of the tail. Front wheels go into the launchers like everyone elses mod. Everything clips on, no alterations to the original figure are needed. Clips hold his sword and the gun I made for him in both vehicle modes. Robot mode - I do have other things that I have designed and printed, such as arm articulation for G1 Blaster - I'll save that one for a separate thread after he gets a desperately needed photo re-shoot. Springer here could use some better pics as well. Click my sig for more details.
i had a thunk can you plz do a yutube vid on how to use these pices. basically how to put him in the fan mode. cause seriously try as i might im having a hard time
Thanks everybody. Anybody who wants info on getting a set please look at this thread: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/items-sale-trade/688280-3d-upgrade-parts-megamoonman.html There are also more pics and some transformation info as well.
My GDO Springer finally arrived so I spent the morning playing with this set. Definitely enhances the toy! Had one minor issue with one of the leg clips - the bit which allows the wheel to be rotated around was very tight and sheered right off. A hairdryer loosened the joint and a small dab of superglue fixed it up good as new. Trying out a different car mode...
I love your take on the car mode! Can you please post a side and bottom view so I can duplicate it? Great work on the kit Mega Moon Man!!!
Like your configuration zebramatt, I'll give it a shot when I get home. Been experimenting on making a viable car mode since MMM's one in the OP doesn't really work for me. Mine is about halfway between yours and his, though I added 2 rubber bands to keep the legs stable and in place. Only problem I have is finding a way to make the back wheels efficient and keep it a triple changer. Since the wheels only work in helicopter mode if they're 'facing out', but in every car mode I've experimented with, that leads to the wheels being 'face up' and having legs scrape the ground, so I have to remove them and flip them everytime I go to car mode. Hmm... Still nice kit, much better looking in hand than you'd think from the pics. Also can't wait to repro the figure.
@echo: As requested, sir. I managed to get the rotor blades to put a little pressure on the decoupled tail, which in turn put a little pressure on the feet - the result of which is that it's actually slightly more stable than you'd expect, given absolutely nothing pegs together at the back. @Kilowog: Yes, 'unfortunately' this configuration is a partsformer, insofar as it does require you to unclip, rotate 180 degrees and reclip the leg rotors for helicopter mode, exactly as you describe. (I say unfortunately but I've actually nothing against partsforming per se - it'd just be nice to find a way to make it work without that.) I didn't mention before but I really struggled to make MMM's official car mode work. Admittedly it seemed like it would be more secure than mine but the shoulder pieces put slightly too much pressure on the wings, which caused the whole thing to crumple at the drop of a hat. Going to keep trying though - I love this kit!
