From the armada energon cybertron trilogy, which character was your favorite G-1 homage character. Lets see we have shockblast ( shockwave) Downshift (wheeljack) Omega supreme (der) Metroplex (der) Cybertron Soundwave and lazerbeak. superion, bruticus, and scorponok. I think Shockblast would be my favorite overall except for the very un articulated arm. Omega supreme is a close second

Op. Prime is usually a homage to G1 Op. Prime.

E-Shockblast is one of the best homages in years. Second place would have to be a tie between C-Starscream (with not only his incredible homage to WW Starscream, but the G1 crown as well) and E-Megatron/Galvatron (for similarly obvious reasons).

And although I love my Bruticus and Superion, they're much like Buildtron/Constructicon; the idea and execution is homage, but the actual appearence? Not so much.

True, but Energon Prime is a bigger G1 Prime homage than most. Look at (a) transformation scheme (save the arms, it's pretty much the same), (b) color scheme and logos on the arms/legs/upper torso/head, and (c) vehicle mode. E-Prime is a DIRECT upgrade of G1 Prime (whereas A-Prime and C-Prime, although fantastic figures in their own right, really aren't *direct* upgrades).

I would have to say Cybertron Galvatron is one of my favorite homages. The upgrades color scheme and the general shape of the face/helmet looks very much like G1 megatron (especially without the horns).

Most of energon's were pretty good as well. Shockblast and wheeljack were my favorites among them though

I prefer the War Within homages, myself. Op, Starscream and Primus look rad.

If I were to pick a G1 throwback, I'd say Soundwave. It's an unexpected alt mode that manages to look like a reimagined Soundwave a la Ultimates.

Galaxy Force Starscream was one hell of a hommage. The attitude, the toy design, the evil plot ... everything went above and beyond the G1 standard.

Same goes with Exhillion. The design of the character is pretty much what a modern day G1 Hot Rod would be.

Once it comes out, the red re-painted excillion wil be the ultimate homage. For now, I'm going with Soundwave.

Energon Megatron was quite obviously styled after the original Galvatron, but I actually like him even beyond that. His vehicle mode is one of my favorites in years, and I just really like his overall appearance and design. In fact, he's my favorite Megatron.

I've got to go with Armada Starscream. That was the toy that got me back into collecting Transformers. I'm quite partial to GF Soundwave and Energon Shockwave/blast though. And Energon Megatron is one very nice homage to G1 Galvatron.

Energon Galvatron and Rodimus. Galvatron cause it looks so good and Rodimus cause he finally got some love.

i didnt realise how much of a home excillion was until i recently opened my tfc hot rod. (didnt own it as a kid). so that is a real good homage, and the red version just rocks.

the problem for me is i see alot of homages in galaxy force. i recently posted a controversial thread about nitro convoy bearing a resemblance to g1 jetfire.

other than that, gf starscream and soundwave.

I really think the Clocker mold's a better update to G1 Hot Rod.... He's got the pipes and angular look whereas Hot Shot's got no pipes and is all rounded.

hot shot/excillion has pipes on the inside section of his forearms....

also the transformation process is almost exactly the same.

is clocker GF skids? if so mate i couldn't disagree more.

I'm gonna say Cyb Galvatron, horns down, there's no mistaking who he is, even without a huge arm cannon! RIGHT behind his is red hotshot, starscream, soundwave from Cyberton.

He has exhaust pipes INSIDE the car?

For transformation process, yep the legs extend and back swivels around but the upper body isn't EXACTLY the same. With the arms the way they are his TF process is just as much an homage to G1 Sideswipe as Hot Rod.

Clocker doesn't TF the same, but the body parts come from the same respective parts of the car.

I just think the look of the car(angular, pipes, windshield) outweighs the more similar TF scheme for being a better "homage".

have a look on the inside of the overlapping bits of his forearms. pipes/lasers, right there.

the way the roof spins round seals it for me. there's no way you can deny it man.

also, alot of car tf legs just extend from the middle. the reason you give saying that he could be a homage to sideswipe means he could also be a homage to jazz, wheeljack etc.

again, about 80% of the toys share this similarity. bonnet for a chest, hmm?

maybe, but he's convertible where hot rod wasnt, plus, they actually made a dvd exclusive repaint which looked just like hot rod, not ot mention the spoiler.

at the end of the day, the only real difference in the construction of the figure is that the bonnet doesnt turn into the chest.
