I'm still waiting for AJ to make this available for Canadians but I may have to order from HLJ. Is HLJ even shipping to Canada these days? I'm thinking the shipping will be atrocious. Here in Ontario we are most likely entering yet another month of lockdown because our cases are way up. The virus is still outsmarting the humans. Which is not really a huge surprise!

Safe to say the anniversary of the movie is a bigger deal than the BW anniversary:p
Seriously , Takara has no excuse next year not to deliver MP-wise, as they are obviously aware. And am I the only one, glad to see they ported over some of the things they did with mp-44's trailer over to Rodimus's. Actually turning it into a car carrier, as well as the separate drone is not the normal effort you see at the Generations level, half the time they don't include a trailer in the first place.

Not all that surprising when you remember that the toy line that is supposedly celebrating the 25th anniversary of Beast Wars has more G1 characters than BW characters.

Did they ever come out with a masterpiece volume 2 book? Seems like they have enough material to make vol 2 and 3

Was really hoping for a MP-52 spread like they did for MP-44

more like teasing the BW fans as they didn't get any releases this year and are expecting Takara to make up for it next year. But you're right you can 't really compare the two, especially as g1 draws more attention over there. It also looks like they want to tone down complexity some and also may be trying to figure how that's going to work with the BW characters.

Can't they just include catalogs of the years toys included with the figures like they used to do? You have to buy a book for this now? SMH

well since toys are now revealed in waves because they’re still in production a lot of time...no

it’s also a very old way of promoting stuff. They haven’t done that stuff in like 30 years. Now we have the internet. A time of streams, cons and reveal days. Don’t need a booklet.

people still read and buy books and magazines in Japan. For them its makes perfect sense and its a pretty nice wrap-up for the year.

You can't really do a catalog of a year's toys like they used to because, well, toys come out in waves now. A year's toys aren't ready to photograph in advance.

also that large image of Rodimus' robot mode is probably printed the same size as an entire old catalog

Wondering how far along that production sample in the photograph is... probably final product,
but *sigh* I kept hoping maybe they would paint the wheels on the final product, or add in the window notch
even if it was just a "cop out" of a trapezoid of paint on the windshield...

Feel like both the molds for this and Ultra Magnus are great, but they suffer from lack of paint in the finer details,
this is still a lot better than Magnus though, that blue chest frame and the solid white shins really grate on my nerves.

As I've blathered on about in multiple threads, I think Takara Tomy is very "lackluster" and perhaps even dying
these days, rarely see any fan-oriented exclusives or "made it because we can" type products any more,
but I would totally rebuy both this, Magnus, and even SS86 Hot Rod if they did a "premium paint version".
Maybe something along the lines of the cartoon accurate "MP+" series that they could just sell on TakaraTomyMall.

It's just such a waste of beautiful molds, that they aren't colored as well as they could be.

Hasn't been an all encompassing Transformers catalogue in the west since 1993's last year of European G1 effort

    1993_92.JPG 1993_93.JPG

The Japanese BW & Car Robots ones are good (anyone able to point me at a scan of the Beast Wars Metals catalogue(s)?) but even they are missing bits here and there.

And as for the western BW - Unicron Trilogy catalogues...... ugh.

We've spent the last few years on the TMUK forum running a series of polls based on the catalogues voting on each toy by subgroup. We've just about made it to the end of G2, with a little assistance from the toyfair catalogues, but with no complete catalogues going forwards we're having to reformat how we do things from G2 onwards

There's a near complete set of the UK and US catalogues for G1 at TF_cat

those 1993 catalogues brought back memories. I had about about 65-70% of it all, the few I didn’t have my friends probably had.
I was blessed in hindsight, they were some amazingly fun toys for the final hurrah!

The 93 bots really need a redo especially the Turbomasters, I got excited when Rotorstorm got a figure but sadly thats as far as we got :/
