Ultra Magnus never got a proper Japanese release, did he? I wonder why they wouldn't give him Henkei treatment at some point. There is clearly demand for it. I'm wondering if its just a matter of time. Has there been any discussion from Takara about a possible release?
Im waiting for Mangnus and Black Convoy to come. Its only a matter of time, they love repaints and money..
I wondered the same thing as it seems like they'd do it and they'd make him more Classic colors than Hasbro's was (giving him red eyes, turquoise face, and white boots). But we never saw the Black Convoy come out so maybe they figured they had enough releases of the Convoy mold? Randy
At that time when Henkei TFs was released, TakaraTomy had never done any straight redecos for mass releases. So Ultra Magnus and Cliffjumper was never manufactured. I believe the 1st straight redeco that TakTom did for mass release was Smokescreen and that was already near the end of the Henkei line.
I think the Ultra Magnus/Prime two pack that was meant for the asian market was supposed to fit this want for anyone who was interested.
This is true, but I believe we didn't get a Deluxe Cliffjumper as Cliffjumper shouldn't just be Bumblebee in red as Takara has never released one as such (the closest is the Henkei which is a BB in red but not Henkei BB in red, and Alternity which had a different head). So a white Magnus wouldn't be out of the question as it's been done before by Takara. Randy
i can pass on a henkei magnus. but a henkei nemesis prime with red windows, i will get 2. (i envy those who got the wonderfest one)
True, only you forgot Streak/Bluestreak. The only other redecos in the line are all exclusives- Skywarp & Thundercracker, Wildrider, and Strafe. They may get around to white-Prime Magnus and possibly retool Bumble for Cliff, but that can only be speculation or at best hopeful wishing. Don't forget that the aim of the line in general is for cartoon-accurate models (albeit updated vehicles or alt-modes) of the G1 characters. Ultra Magnus was never shown to be a white Prime. Cliff is a little more acceptable.
Yep. You're probably right. It would've been nice to see a Henkei Magnus with the chrome grill and cartoon accurate detail. As for Cliffjumper, he's already been given the Henkei treatment. He was part of the Henkei Legends 3 pack. I would've preferred a repaint of Classics Bumblebee, but whatcha gonna do.
Maybe..but seeing as neither was truly Henkei, chrome, anime accurate paint and different packaging, I don't think this would be a worthy substitute. It was just a repack of the Classics figures in a classics box.
