Henkei should be cheaper, taking into mind you know where to get him from. And looks MUCH better.

    So really, no competition.

I dont see anything about the henkei version that would make it worth it to me. Now if we were talking megatron it would be a whole different story

I 've had the henkei prime for over a month now, i transformed him to the truck mode for the first time yesterday...i was surpirsed at how nice it looks in both mode. its a great toy which ever version you get. personally i prefer the henkei version because its more G1 accurate and the chrome part is very nice.

i am looking for a trailor but there seems to be a few versions available so i am not sure which one to get:

    Kapow Toys

    or

    Kapow Toys

    or

    Kapow Toys

really? i mean....reallY??? a truck with a chrome bumper and grill is pointless...

that freaking awesome! that's total G1 right there and real life cool trucks right there as well!

all this just to say that henkei rocks! the moment you have a shelf with cars all pimped henkei style you'll be like: " - Sweet!"

    Jump on a bandwagon much??

OK, so the "pointless chrome" point can be made against some Henkei, but Prime? Hardly. It's a superb use of chrome, and makes your Hasbro version look like a KO :D

In all seriousness, let's stop the blanket "chroime suckkksss lolzzz!!!" comments. I prefer to take each figure on their own merit these days.

To the OP - Henkei Prime looks nicer, esp. if you're getting the figure because you like the G1 look. But really, it's the same figure, and a decent one to have regardless of which version you plump for!

    Yeah what are you thinking?

It sounds like you are making excuses for Classics prime. like as if you are lying to yourself that he is "awesome" cause you dont want to shell out 30-40 bucks for the japanese one.

"-interesting coloring " I hardly think so. The ******ed yellow and blue paint apps. Why did hasbro come up with that? Totally pointless and stupid. Why doesnt he have autobot logos? Henkei does. Why are the thighs painted blue? again those color apps do not make sense. they seem rather random and unnecessary.

How is henkei coloring "bland"? he has the extra window colored blue, the blue of the legs more closely matches g1 prime. The thighs are silver, somewhat closer to g1, which has chrome thighs.

"sacrificing show accuracy for awsomeness " you need to explain this one. they are the same mold so they are both awesome.

"expensive with today's exchange rates " what the hell are you talking about? There are a few Henkei Convoys on ebay right now for only $27. with shipping though, it is close to $40 USD

When and where is chrome ever ugly? Vacu-metalized chrome is always a bonus. Like the cherry on top of an ice cream sundae. Granted some of the henkei chromeing decisions, by takara, are a little odd, but not so in Convoy's case. The only gripe I have is, why isnt there more chrome? I want to see chrome thighs and smokestack guns so he looks even more like G1.

Henkei Prime should normally cost around 40 USD delivered, when bought from a japanese retailer or e-bay. I've seen some run even cheaper.

Classics Prime, like all other Classics, costs 2-2.5 times his asking price.

Either one is good. I got the classics version cause that's the one my wife got me. If you get one you'll forget about what the other looks like anyways.

The chrome on Prime is well placed, but there are quite a few henkei's where there is chrome for no reason. eg. Ironhide/rachet's tail lights, Galvatron's turret.

The original poster is just talking about Optimus Prime, in which the Henkei version has chrome in the right places. You may be referring to Henkei in general with your statement.

Where? there are a few good examples of chrome choice for henkei:

Mirage, Hound, Hot Rodimus, and Suntreaker come to mind at the moment.

Buy whichever one is cheaper, unless you really like the looks of one over the other. It's not like either version is bad.

This pic proves nothing. I could take a worse figure and put it under better lighting conditions and take a better picture to make it look better than it is too.

Not saying that the Henkei figure is worse. I actually prefer the Classics, just need to get myself some faction decals to put one on the left shoulder.

But my reasoning is based completely on the fact that I've have Classics Prime since before there was a Henkei line. No need for me to spend more money on the same figure (without plans for any bashing).

Bottom line, this is may favorite mold, so you cannot go wrong either way. There are details about both I like, I like some of the paint apps on the Classics better, but I believe he should have an Autobot symbol on the left shoulder and the chrome bumper and grill would be nice. In the same respect on the Henkei, I do not like the red as much, need to take the symbol off the right shoulder and I do not like the upper legs as much.

So good and bad on both, but still great, get them both.

The picture was to show the difference between the 2. I just didn't make that clear by only posting my opinion.

I pulled the 2 photos from TFU and labeled them, so it's not like they were photographed just for this thread or anything.

No, but the photo of the Classics version is pretty bad. I've got Classics Prime in front of me, and he's not that washed-out orange colour that photo makes him appear.
