I'm making another effort to crack an enduring musical mystery. The enigma in question is a song, dated circa the early to mid 2000s. Vocalist was female, with a rather high-pitched, reedy voice, similar to Samantha Mumba's. Her singing tone was wistful. Chorus featured the phrase "mambo, mambo" and the song possessed a heavy tribal drumbeat. Overall air, while catchy, was not what I would call raucous or lively - certainly not like an actual mambo. Anyone able to help me name it?
Elissa Mamboleo is somthing that comes to mind but it might not be the right song. Elissa - Mamboleo - YouTube
Sorry, it isn't. This one sounds so... happy by comparison. As I mentioned prior, 'my' song was quite wistful. Catchy and moderately fast, yes, but not cheery.
